but i’ve posted here before about how in will’s coming out scene, he mentions “watching The Grail” I believe this is in reference to the 1975 movie lMonty Python and The Holy Grail. The reason I believe this is because of the main characters names.

I could never work out how the show connected to this, the story didn’t align until i saw this tweet mentioning the trojan horse as I also found it on the wiki for this movie!!

So let’s get into this theory — the movie is based off of king arthur going on a quest. there has been many references to king arthur this season, such as the game derek played and the film Holly’s friend was watching.

Monty Python and The Holy Grail breaks the fourth wall by having a MODERN DAY DOCUMENTARY apart of its plot!! and the knights are all arrested at the end. imprisoned, even.

If they did this, it would neatly explain why they're using an anachronistic version of DND which didn't exist in the 80's yet

Okay, this also reminds me of DARK, where the characters travel through time through a wormhole created by an nuclear accident in a small town in Germany and specific years are connected, that are all 33 years apart. There are also multiverse shenanigans going on and everything is very confusing.

But if we'd have the Hawkins universe and our universe and Will as exotic matter not only connecting the ABYSS with Hawkins through the UD but OUR WORLD …

it is kinda batshit, but I'd eat that up.

(There would have to be an explanation why 43 as a timespan is so important, but that would explain why Vecna started the plan in 1986 and not earlier/later)

On unreliable narration: possession, the fourth wall, and you 🫵

Plenty of people are speculating about Will being possessed by Vecna in Volume 2.

Aside from details like odd, seemingly uncharacteristic costuming choices (orange?), the biggest clue to Will being possessed (by Henry) has got to be the line about getting milkshakes at Melvald’s.

But I think we’ve gotten some other good evidence for a possession, on the basis of foreshadowing, callbacks, and clearly unreliable narration.
