HAPPY HOLIDAYS, DEAR @littlemisspinky !! I am your secret santa for the @precuresecretexchange ! >< (Thank you guys as always for organizing this lovely event)
You mentioned Cure Wink as one of your favorite characters. Sooo i just to make a compilation of some of her sweetest and coolest and most inspiring moments 💙✨:
(I hope the link and video work out well! If they don't, please tell me!)
I must say: I remembered her having fewer episodes than she did. Which means, i was SOOOOO HAPPY to go through the episodes again and be on the lookout for her moments! She has so many lovely episodes, it's just that she's often supporting the people around her - which is however so perfect for her! She has such a big heart and her determination is so admirable. This really left me with a new love for her ><💙🩵! She is so heartfelt and fun...
I really hope you enjoy this compilation !! And that you have a lovely end of the year! Win Win Wink! ;D🎉
❣️However! As Idol Precure has not finished airing yet, I will add moments from the coming episodes after the show's finale! Which means I will do an updated reupload as soon as the series is finished. I'll be sure to tag you again at that point :)
hi @curekururun! i'm your @precuresecretexchange secret santa this year :> since you said tropical-rouge was your favorite season, i made some lockscreens featuring the main cast! i hope you like it, and happy holidays!
This year's Secret Santa is for @littlemisspinky! Hope you like it!
I've really been enjoying watatabe, but there is one aspect of it that bothers me, and that's the portrayal of Hinako's depression. It's not bad, per se, and it's not "problematic." It's just... meh. As someone who has suffered from and continues to suffer from depression, it just doesn't resonate with me, it doesn't feel real to me. It lacks specificity-- depression can lead you to do some pretty weird things, like neglecting your hygiene for long periods of time, or overindulging in escapism, or sleeping a lot. And with Hinako, that kind of specificity, the behaviors particular to her that she has due to her depression or are amplified because of it, aren't there. She's kind of just ambiguously sad and suicidal.
Depression can absolutely rob you of your personality. But with Hinako, it's hard to imagine what sort of personality she might have if she didn't suffer from depression. She's... nice, I guess. But that's about it.
Maybe I'm just burned out on the "dead family as a backstory" thing, but Hinako's grief doesn't resonate with me at all when I know nothing about her family, other than that they were (probably) kind, and her mom made good tamagoyaki.
I really, really, want to like Hinako. I really do like this show's premise, and Shiori and Miko are both fascinating to me. But Hinako is the weakest link, which sucks because she's, y'know, the main character. It also just makes the chemistry between her and Shiori fall flat for me.
some more yuri ship doodles ❤️♀️♀️
me blocking every single "irl magical girl" blog that pops up (there are like 5 more every day):
What are your favorite magical girl series and why if you had to choose?
Not going to lie, I have a lot of trouble picking favorites out of things I already love. 😅So I have a couple of favorite magical girl series...
The Pretty Cure series, specifically the season Happiness Charge PreCure. It embodies pretty much everything I love about magical girls-- the cute outfits, emphasis on friendship, kindness, and dreams, the transformation sequences, which in PreCure are always a visual treat, and the balance between everyday school life and fighting evil. This isn't to say that other series don't also have these things, but in my opinion, PreCure does them the best. Happiness Charge's main theme of finding happiness in the everyday resonated with me a lot when I first watched it, so it has a special place in my heart.
Another one of my favorites is Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch. I love mermaids; they're one of my favorite mythical creatures. I also love how MMPPP takes the idea of a siren, or a mermaid who sings to lure sailors to their deaths, and flips it on its head, making the songs of the mermaid princesses into songs that heal and repel evildoers. The music of MMPPP is awesome, so catchy! I also really enjoyed the romance storylines between Lucia and Kaito, Nagisa and Hanon, and Rina and Masahiro. Another thing I adore about MMPPP is its villains. I find Gaito/Gackto and Michel to be really interesting, and their subordinates strike a good balance between endearingly goofy and outright intimidating. It helps that the baddies get their own songs, too.
cute girltober #17, "butterfly:" lanhua from mermaid melody!
