What occurred to Yazidis in Iraq at the hands of Islamists was significantly more severe than the current situation in Gaza. Elderly women were buried alive due to being too old for forced marriage. Mothers were coerced into consuming the remains of their own children. Young girls were confined in iron cages and set ablaze. Notably, there were no protests. Those now demonstrating for Gaza remained silent. What accounts for this disparity? Unlike Gazans, Yazidis did not initiate conflict.
