i would love to go to bed when i plan to, but unfortunately the person in charge of me is me and that bitch LOVES screentime and poor decisions

It's a couple panicking after their doordasher ran inside their house because she was being harassed by ICE. The Dasher had a Minnesota ID.

The Mom is already on the phone with police when the video starts and she's asking them what to do, saying she needs a warrant before she does anything but she's scared because they have guns, have her house surrounded, and are snooping through her yard

And what I want to say here and why I'm posting this: the police told her that if she doesn't release the woman then the couple will be charged with harboring.

They said that knowing that ICE doesn't have a warrant, let alone a signed warrant.

The police are not on our side and they don't care about anyone's rights.

That said, this also ended up being a community effort.

The Mom holds the Doordasher's hand and leads her to the door, talking about how this goes against everything she stands for as a Native. She's in tears crying about how she has a baby in the house and is scared to let them in because they've had their hands on their guns the whole time.

They stand on the threshold together and a crowd gathers as the Mother screams at these ICE pigs and draws attention. Her neighbors start recording and yelling too. The Mom screams at them that it's her property and they need to get off it. She never hands the woman over to ICE or lets her leave her front door.

And you know what ICE does?

They get in their cars. And they leave.

An update was posted today from the same Mom. She said the Dasher is safe and is now in contact with an immigration lawyer.

She also states she has no contact information with that other person because "The less I know, the better." So her neighbors and people who stood by are the ones in contact and helping out.

Do not trust the fucking cops.

Do not trust the fucking feds.

Yes that includes your cop uncles and favorite politicians.

I've been saying this for years but it bears repeating: we protect us

Organize. Your. Community.

I want to add something little but significant:

ICE has everybody’s address. If they had the legal authority to go to the Dasher’s house, they would do that. It’s way easier.

Instead, they wait to bait and trap people like animals while they’re working or looking for work.

ICE knows they need a warrant to come inside the house in the video. That’s why they left. A closed door can’t (yet) be used to claim self-defense.

The cops absolutely lied to that woman - AND COPS LYING TO THE PUBLIC IS 100% LEGAL AND IS SOP!

ICE instead tries to intimidate innocent people with lethal weapons (INCIDENTALLY: REMEMBER FROM 2020 THAT HOLDING WEAPONS IN A HOSTILE MANNER IS THE OPPOSITE OF GUN SAFETY TRAINING.)

I think the weirdest form of fatphobia I keep bumping into is writers suddenly becoming deeply concerned with physical realism when a fat character is involved even in contexts where everybody's physical capabilities are explicitly bullshit. "They're fat, it wouldn't make sense for them to have super speed" and it would make sense for the 98-pound twink to be able to run at Mach Fuck? That's something skinny people can do in real life, is it?

the mutuals you have nothing in common with anymore fandom-wise are so important to the dash ecosystem...... #biodiversity

repeating this in my head since i heard it. brennan lee mulligan your love for the things you care about so important to me

If I were Yale Law School I would've revoked Vance's degree by now and I'd also be issuing regular statements to reassure prospective students as well as clients, firms and courts re: my graduates in good standing that the man is a freakish aberration wholly unreflective of the quality of the education I offer.

Too much movement makes your joints hurt and too little movement also makes your joints hurt. This would imply that there's an optimal amount of movement that allows your joints to not hurt. This is a lie.

i got a 100% on this bostonian-to-english quiz but i grew up near boston..... i'm curious what you guys get. there's a couple things in here i didn't even know are regionalisms + a couple things i hadn't heard before but could parse pretty easily from context. tag/reply with what you got and if you're familiar with the area or not!

7/14 some of the ones I got wrong were because I picked the snarkiest, meanest sounding answer and it turned out, nope that's a sandwich not a vermonter 😂

The thing that really sucks but everyone is too scared to talk about is that fumbling to plug your phone charger in doesn’t even scratch your phone
