Remember to eat today!

@mealreminders

7 meal reminders a day.

This is a reminder to eat blog. Honestly kinda not sure how long I will run this. If the discourse gets too much, I will delete and pretend I never started this.

But if getting daily reminders to eat is helpful for you, please give me a follow.

Some important things for you to know. I believe a well balanced meal includes carbs, protein, and veggies/fruit. I don't subscribe to good or bad food. Just food you eat. I will not get into dieting or body shaming discourse. If you get into it, I will block you.

I'm just here to remind people to eat and how important it is to try and get adequate nutrition. But I will not judge or shame you for what you have to do just to stay alive. And I will not bring up counting calories.

My aim is to try remind you to eat so you can get the nutrients you need to live a good life.

I'm not a dietitian or a professional. I just think it's really important to get adequate nutrition and that means eating regular meals everyday. And if you can do your best to ensure they're well balanced, then I'll be happy.

I am the same person who runs the brush your teeth reminder blog @brosser-les-dents, the shower time reminder blog @showertimereminders, and the get up and move blog @movementnudge.

there’s this extremely kind soul of a woman on instagram that makes accessible recipes that don’t require standing, chopping, or a stove and she might just have a permanent place in my heart

She's on YouTube too! For non-Instagram using friends:

I love her, she's great. Her recipes are friendly for both physical and/or intellectual disabilities. And her 5-year-old helps her cook. 🥰

Lately I have been making Efforts to eat a foodful breakfast in the real actual morning, and my stomach was very confused at first, but it is a good thing to have a breakfast. I think that keeping a supply of bagels in my kitchen will improve my life somewhat and will help me accomplish more tasks.

Breakfast is important! Remember to eat, my little dandelions!

@mealreminders reblogs from you have helped me quite a bit, so im gonna give some of my own advice back

Wraps > sandwiches 100% (personal taste)

Never really liked sandwiches. theyve always been dry and fall apart. all around eh.

WRAPS however, i have figured out, are as versatile and varied as sandwiches, but with quite a few bonuses.

1: theyre quicker to prepare. - with a sandwich you have to layer everything carefully, but with a wrap you can just toss everything in and roll it up.

2: theyre less mess. - since the wrap is closed, nothing falls out. unlike a sandwich, which spills from all sides.

3. wetter is better. - sandwiches are a bit dry, and more sauce = more mess. with a wrap, all of it is contained, so the extra sauce doesnt drip plus it doesnt feel like choking it down.

4: anything goes! - anything that a sandwich has, a wrap can have too. cold wraps, hot wraps, meat, vegan, anything can go in a wrap.

why i like wraps so much: before i figured this out, id make a sandwich like once a week. always because there isnt anything else appetizing. other than that, the lunchmeat drawer would just sit untouched, and cold leftovers like porkchops and chicken legs would too. Now, throw it in a wrap! chop it all up and add sauce and lettuce and BOOM youve got a wrap! pop the whole thing in the microwave for 30 seconds BOOM youve got a hot wrap!

i've been making wraps for work as prepped lunches and its so simple and easier to keep track of. i'll make a sheet of chicken nuggets, a bag of pre-chopped veggie (i prefer coleslaw style cabbage, but anything goes), some cheese, some ranch, and a pack of tortillas and BOOM ive got lunch for a week! theyre really easy to store too, just roll it up in a paper towel and 3 or 4 will fit in a ziplock bag. Perfect for meal prepping. and since theyre all made at once, i dont have to worry about making lunch every morning. I just grab a wrap or two and go.

Genuine here, making wraps has helped me remember to eat every day. I used to forget to pack lunch and then either panic shove things into my lunchbag or just order delivery (which added up fast. $RIP) but now i make a bunch of wraps every week and have it all prepped. Plus since anything can go in a wrap, i can switch it up every now and then so i dont get burnt out on the same type of wrap.

I really hope this helps even one person out there like yall's ideas helped me

🥹🥹🥹 Thank you so much for sharing. I absolutely love a good wrap. And a big hearty one full of veg and protein with sauce is the best.

Remember to eat, friends!

Disability tip that works for me (someone with fluctuating symptoms, brain fog and memory issues)

I meal prep salads. I buy the ingredients I want in my salad (I'll talk about some good combos below) and then when I have the energy and lesser symptoms, I will chop the ingredients and portion them out for meal prep. And then absolutely smother that shit in dressing. I'm a sucker for caeser but honey mustard, garlic and herb etc are also incredible!

Then just chuck it in the fridge and eat within 7 ish days (these salads are also not for freezing so be aware of that).

Then you can eat the salad on its own or with tortilla chips or in a wrap or a sandwich or whatever you may have the energy and spoons for.

It's really helped me with executive dysfunction because I don't have to choose what to eat and I don't have to cook.

OH AND PUT THEM SOMEWHERE VISIBLE!!! Out of sight means out of mind!

Good combos (in my opinion) (customise to YOUR taste)

  • "Standard" salad. Lettuce, cucumber, tomato, carrot. This is the least amount of ingredients but there's not much variety.
  • Sweet salad. Cucumber, carrot, tomato, bell pepper, sweetcorn, apple. Good if you don't like how lettuce tastes, because a lot of the ingredients are sweet.
  • Mediterranean salad. Cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, apple, onion, chickpeas, lettuce, salad cheese, or feta. This is so good and is my go to.
  • Green salad (I personally like blending this). Kale, chickpeas, arugula, spinach, swiss chard. I like drizzling this with honey and sea salt.
  • Caesar salad. casear salald is amazing. croutons. chicken (i use quorn). lettuce. cucumber. tomato. a lil bit of pepper and sometimes corn
Cheap and Easy Meal Ideas

- simple yogurt bowls. I like vanilla, but I accidentally bought plain recently, so I add honey to sweeten it and add granola. if we have some I also add blueberries or other fruit

- bagel with cream cheese. I like blueberry protein bagels (I struggle to eat enough) with strawberry cream cheese, but my partner likes peanut butter on his bagels.

- cubed chese with cherry tomatoes, I skewer them on toothpicks. I use sharp cedar and Colby jack just because that is our favorite and cheap for blocks of cheese

- bag salad, toast, and ceasar dressing. i bulk make salad since i use it each day for lunch so I add an extra bit of dressing to the toast depending on how much is already in the salad and I either make a sandwich with extra vegetables if we have any, or i eat it on one slice

- pasta with butter. just boiling so pasta and throwing it into a bowl with a fork full of butter. this is harder for me since it uses a stove, but dinner foods are good too ^^

- tuna and rice. having a rice cooker is great since it can schedule rice to be ready when I get off from work. I add a bit of regular mayo and rice vinegar and canned tuna. for a spicier take, you can add sriracha. also kewpie mayo makes a good alternative if you have it
