i really just don't understand the point of downplaying how toxic carol's relationship to the hive is, or to exaggerate helen's flaws to the same level. the surface level similarities to helen that the hive tries to emulate, and the contrast underneath of someone giving you everything you want (except what's most important) vs someone who actually gave you what you needed, someone who was a real person with their own human desires who you needed (and were able) to make compromises with, a relationship that took work to build, a love that was a choice, is what makes it all so interesting. including helen in the parallel between the hive and carol's mom because they all wanted to "change something" about carol is such a surface level read of things and also heavily burying the lede on what that "something" is. change is not inherently bad, change is necessary in life, and there's a huge fucking difference between forcing someone to change a core part of their identity as a person, and encouraging them to change something that is actually hurting them (and possibly others)

yeah I know she was being delulu but this tells me that she was both of those things with Helen too
oooh man grossed me out. didn't want to share her sex doll vibes. same controlling vibes as in bilbao but just more amped up. not saying the control/manipulation isn't mutual just sayin it Ugly.
Ah, well. I have written numerous things on this and I have stated that I do not think it is ethical to sleep with the people that have been assimilated into the hivemind.
However, I do not personally see Carol's actions as quite adjacent to a stepford housewives-type situation where she sees Zosia as her personalized sex doll. She could have done all of that from the beginning. The hive as Zosia started seemingly taking cues from Helen, using the memories of her own newly dead wife against her, and we see her deluding herself into treating Zosia as a girlfriend. Perhaps even because the hive keeps insinuating that they represent the opinions of those people.
However, as I have said, I don't think this excuses it. But I think the character themselves would lack the foresight of the viewer seeing the entire story from multiple POVs. I also think the hive sees all these people as there's to do with what they want and are being very deceptive offering and representing consent where it isn't their place to do so.
That being said, I see where you are coming from. And I do think it is right to not be comfortable with anybody sleeping with hived individuals. That's kind of the thing here with the sci-fi aspect of it all. All of this represents a fantasy situation that is completely unrealistic and bears no complete 1 to 1 adjacency to something that could happen in real life.
But I would like to point out that the tone of this post was just meant to be more flippant/funny/ me attracted to the actress playing a Lesbian. There is a severe lack of representation of wlw and I did find it amusing to see Rhea as Carol be delulu and act like she was some protective girlfriend towards Zosia 🤷♀️
sorry my bad. i was also trying to be flippant! ethics aside, grabbing Zosia's arm as they are sitting on the couch 2 feet away from Manousos is ... aggressive. it was oof.
Np! It's all good. Like I said, there is a lot of way to look at it and that is how the show is designed to be. I think it is good to be able to have these kinds of conversations and explore what is going on in the story and the ways it can be perceived depending on your point of view.
