Stranger Things season 1: beneath the superficial image of “peace and prosperity” in 1980s small-town America, there was the painful legacy of countless atrocities committed by the American government in the name of ‘freedom.’

Stranger Things season 4: evil Russians (not Soviets) have sent our All-American Hero to the gulags which apparently still exist in the 1980s and it’s up to us to save him 🇺🇸🦅🫡

There’s probably a term that already exists for this but if there isn’t I’m gonna call it ‘Rambofication’ in honor of its probably most well known instance: Rambo First Blood was about a soldier, John Rambo (that’s his actual name I’m not doing a bit), returning home from the Vietnam war, so traumatized by war that he brought the war home with him to a small town, unable to adapt to life without strict military discipline and hierarchy. Subsequent Rambo movies were about how John Rambo was the only supersoldier tough enough and patriotic enough to kill faceless hordes of dastardly foreign commies.

Ergo, ‘Rambofication’ is the process of a series starting with a relatively nuanced or subversive narrative before its sequels become a shallow embrace of the very narrative it originally subverted. It happens surprisingly often!

Folding Ideas has a video about this happening to the movie Jarhead and it's sequels

Why do you reblog your own fics so much?

Because someone might as well!? And look at this. Look. At. This.

Does this look right to you??

These are just the last three fics I wrote. I appreciate the likes, believe me I do, but you have to understand. Likes do nothing for content creators. It’s the reblogs. Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.

Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

Anyway, I’m still going to reblog my shit...

I think I’m gonna restart blogging my own shit.

WRITERS. ARTISTS. EDITORS.

REBLOG YOUR OWN WORK.

THERE IS NO SHAME IN IT.

And still there'd be people who'd not REBLOG this post

I hate when people imply America has only just recently become evil. We need to go back to when America was SENSIBLE and NORMAL because I was oblivious to fascism and imperialism

SURPRISE, ASSHOLE! The country founded on stolen indigenous land and built by slavery, legal or otherwise, has been evil this whole time!

It's like a Final Fantasy game, where halfway through the game you discover the kingdom you're a knight for is actually the villains the whole time.

El Infierno de Mark Powell I’ve had 2 pics of this in my laptop and it always fascinated me to an unbelievable level o.o

Is there a reason this particular Rocket figurine is giving Punisher vibes? What's up with the face paint look?

That is so weird. Don't remember him ever having that look in any media. Think someone on the art team was trying to be creative, but screwed up.

Oh, found out what this is. He is just badly painted, supposed to look like the figurine that is part of the Eaglemoss chess set collection.

Ah, thank you for this info! Lmao, wow... Well they certainly tried.

If I played chess I would definitely get this chess set though, omg

Same here, even just to have the figurines. Only problem I see is that each figurine is different, only way to know what they are is the tiny symbol on the base, which is a pain if you are playing against someone.

I mean look at this:
