The flag is meant to symbolize the great permanent storm the fringes of which are used to cross the ocean fast and efficiently. Colloquially these ships are called “Stormriders” for that reason. Stormriders are crewed mostly by carnivores (such as our nervous wolf here). They can eat fish, which can be caught while underway, which in turn means less food has to be carried along, which again means more space is available for cargo and/or passengers and their food.
