I did not want to go. the elderly have that affect on children. but they loved me and I grew to love them. they were papists, and I came to find, devout. each sunday they’d leave me with a housemaid while they attended a catholic mass. I was frightened for them. I’d been told they were doing a great, unforgivable thing. then one morning, they took me with them. I was shaking. the service was not the howling spectacle of sin I’d imagined, but was beautiful. the singing sounded delivered by angels themselves. when it came time for the eucharist I found myself moved to step forward. my aunts were surprised, but pleased, I could see. I took the wafer on my tongue, drank from the chalice, and I felt clean. with the body and blood of christ within me I felt forgiven of every poor or weak or selfish thing in my soul. It was a perfect morning in a whole imperfect life. the next week, when it came time to dress, I pretended to be ill. they knew I was pretending. to this day, I don’t know why I did it. they never asked me to join them again. we never spoke of it. it was the last and only time I stepped into a papist church. but tonight, when I close my eyes, I’m there. if I were a braver man, I’d kill mr hickey, though it would mean my death, too. but I’m hungry. I’m hungry and I want to live.

Just like last year, this is an all-fanworks-invited month to celebrate Terror ships with under 50 tagged fics on Ao3 as of February the 1st, 2026! This year's theme is "Order & Chaos; Lost & Found."

Starting on February 1st, 2026 you will be able to post your fics to the Ao3 Collection HERE or your fanworks to Tumblr with the tag #trpm26.

Additionally, just like last year, we have a Google Forms for requesting pairings. The responses are sent to a public Google Sheets for your viewing pleasure where you can see stats for requested pairings as well as any ideas people may have for those ships!

The form is open now, so feel free to start submitting pairings! Just remember to double-check that your pairing is under 50 tagged fics on Ao3 and PLEASE don't submit a ship more than once per person.

The list has been constructed from Ao3's list of tagged characters and is alphabetical by last name so you can best find your specific guy (gender non-conforming). If there's more than 1 tagged fic with their name on Ao3, they're on the list. Feel free to request if you don't see someone.

I also separated the characters with over 15 fics on Ao3 into the category above the dividing line. Below the dividing line are characters with fewer than 15 fics on Ao3 / really minor to the TV Show characters. Hopefully this helps you pick out your guy faster!

FAQ / Rules:

Are you affiliated with Terror Rarepair Week of Years past? --Nope! Just excited to take on the mantle. (And I did check if I was allowed to take it up before starting this!)

What counts as a rarepair? --The pair (or more) must have less than 50 tagged works under the Terror (2018) tag on Ao3 as of February 1, 2025. The pairing MUST BE the main part of the fanwork.

What counts as a ship? --Two or more characters get together. Throuples and beyond count!

Can the ship be platonic? --Absolutely! Both Romantic (/) and Platonic (&) ship pairings are allowed.

Is there a word limit? --Nope! However little or much as you like. We do challenge you to write 1k or more, however!

Can I do art? --Absolutely, MOST welcome. Any type of fanwork is acceptable!!

Must I follow the prompts? --Nope! Prompts are just there to inspire you. Any part of the prompt is allowed to be used! The words in italics are provided as inspiration. You can do all, some, or none of the prompt. You can do them out of order. Etc.!

Can I use last year's prompts? --Absolutely! You can use last year's, mix them up with this years, pick and choose, don't do any of them at all, do them out of order, whatever your heart desires.

Does the fanwork have to be set during canon? --Nope! Post-canon, during-canon, AU, crossover—anything goes as long as a Terror rarepair is the main ship featured!

Can I mix this with other events? --Absolutely! You can mix this with any other event co-occurring during the month of February so long as that event allows mixing as well.

Can I do OC x Canon; or Crossover x Canon? --Preferably not! I'd like to keep the fanworks to within the general Terror pool. Basically, just make sure the main ship is Terror x Terror.

Can I do RPF of the actors? Or RPF of the real people the show was based off? --Sure, why not. Go for it. It's within the general Terror pool! NOTE: I do not have actors on the sheet as options, but you can feel free to add whatever in the 'other' section.

Can I submit throuples (3 in a ship) to the request form? --Absolutely! Anything from 2 or more counts. Poly is totally cool!

Is the form required to be filled out? --Nope! You can do whatever you want forever; the form just gives everyone an idea of what's going on / is just something fun for everyone to do together.

Can I submit NSFW to the request form? --Yep! But remember, all the prompts will be in one place; there's no separation of SFW and NSFW, and there's no content warnings. Your prompts will be public!

My ship is already on the request form! --Submit whatever your heart desires. The form and its subsequent chart helps track how popular a desired rarepair may be!!

I can only submit one ship to the request form! --You can fill the form out multiple times; but only 1 pairing per submission per person! PLEASE don't submit a ship more than once per person, that's cheating, and we'll hunt you down for it.

Must I follow / pick only from the requests form? --Nope! The requests form is just there for fun to give you an idea of what ships people have been thinking of / a fun challenge if you want to try something different! You're not assigned anything.
