Neves Serial Writer

@nevesserialwriter

Datv musing and such. Really I’m here to write and look at all the dragon age fanart

Hey guys, thanks so much for supporting Dock Town Noir. I'm so appreciative of the love, kudos and comments and now that it's coming to an end I wanted to just give thanks. I've been on a journey trying to get a commission done, but all the artists I contacted were so busy most of them had closed. BUT my number 1 choice got back to me and I can't thank @yelenhol enough for this amazing work. Please check them out, they are phenomenal and so talented.

Check out the full work under the cut! I was so proud of this scene, I'm so excited to see it come to life.

2026 WIP’s

Rules: make a post with all of the WIPs you are bringing into the new year with you! and tell us a bit about them 🥰

Tagged by: @natsora, thank you friend!

A gentle tag with no obligations to: @nevesserialwriter, and @iamsuperconfused (apologies if y’all have done this already, I’ve been offline a bit!)

For my WIP’s, I almost always have my complete works pre-written before I start posting and I’m usually only working at one thing at a time or my brain gets it’s wires crossed. So!

My one active WIP is tentatively titled, For One Day Soon.

This will be the final piece for the Dawn Will Come series (shameless self-promo), which covers the aftermath of Trespasser.

As this is the final piece of a full series, Josephine Montilyet and S’vari Lavellan have been through the wringer over the course of the series, from Tranquility to kidnapping to bloodshed and loss.

This part deals more with the aftermath of all of those events, whether it be Josephine dealing with her newly acquired disability, S’vari dealing with overwhelming guilt, or their dear friend Cassandra Pentaghast trying to keep everyone’s shit together. Things are thrown even more askew by the arrival of Josephine’s mother, Claudia Montilyet.

I’m nearing the end of the first draft, and then just editing remains :D

After that, some mental WIP’s I’m going to tackle next are:

Blood I Bled: Neve and Tel underestimate Aelia at a steep price

The Bright Child: Josephine and S’vari meet Aya, an odd little girl who eventually becomes their adopted daughter. (This is going to end up as an eventual full verse with @natsora, @crackedskel and @justskipit)

And a smattering of short drabbles and ficlets for various fan weeks, looking very much forward to Josephine week in March!

That might all be a little optimistic for 2026, but we shall see!

Thank you for the tag!

Last Line Tag

Many thanks to @woundedsoul12, @juniper-and-dragonthorn, and @ofcrowsanddragons for the tags!

The rules are basically to share the last line of what you’ve been working on and tag tha number of people. I’ll go with the last new line I drafted, rather than the last thing I worked on (because that was just editing):

“So a ritual takes, what? Items, space, and people, right?”

And since I just tagged a bunch of people for Five(ish) Sentence Friday, I’ll just give some incredibly gentle tags to: @nevesserialwriter, @natsora, @justskipit, @sandcastlekings, @hyperions-light, @mageofquandrix, @dymme, @bygonesigh, @becausedragonage, and @littlemissgeek8, and of course anyone else who wants to!

Five(ish) Sentence Friday

Thanks so much for the tag @juniper-and-dragonthorn! I…mostly followed the rules. >.> (It is six sentences, but if I round down…)

From part of The Ventus Job I’ve been retooling:

Her eyes narrowed on him, and he saw the flicker of anger in her gaze. Neve didn’t get angry, truly angry, at him often, but he was clearly running headlong towards an explosion of her usually-controlled temper.
“Trouble…”
For all of Neve’s wonderful qualities, which were most of her qualities, her tendency to internalize her worries to the point she turned them into mental near-certainties was one he found the most difficult. To Neve, speaking her fears aloud made them real. And once they were real, they were inevitable.

New Year’s Fandom Resolutions

Thanks so much, @woundedsoul12, both for the tag and the game! And thanks to @bronzieinthedas and @thedissonantverses for the tags as well!

Rules: Post 6 (or more) fandom New Years Resolutions for 2026 and then tag at least 6 friends

Okay, resolving things below the cut! 😅

Thursday Bangers 12/25

Thank you for the tag @woundedsoul12

No pressure tagging @tarasmom @sorcerousadventurer @serialsforbellara @kogarashi-art @nevesserialwriter and anyone who might want to play

When Athos originally joined the Rebellion, he figured his work would consist of regular missions with the Pathfinders.

Certainly his first year had been spent running ground and infiltration missions with the Pathfinders, but a year in, he'd been pulled by command to work with Davrin and his astromech A5-AN on extraction missions. Their first year together was spent pulling soldiers and intelligence out.

Then came the mayday request from a Jedi. After Order 66 the few surviving Jedi had gone into hiding. Athos had been surprised when they'd been given an extraction order for not just a Jedi, but two Force sensitive kids.

They'd remained on a Rebel base for the first few months until the first evacuation, then he and Davrin had been ordered to help Neve keep Rish and Adana hidden. His life since then had been Davrin, A5-AN, the Jedi Neve Gallus, and the girls.

2025 Favorites and Not

Rules: Look back at what you have done in 2025 and answer the questions. Answers are short or long as you want them to be. Artist just sub in draw for write

1. Favorite character to write for/about

I mean, if you were to ask me I’d hem and haw and say I don’t have a favorite; and, unbelievable though it may be, I don’t. That said, one of my favorites is definitely Neve Gallus.

And no one was surprised.

2. Least favorite character to write for/about

Probably Anders or Ogren, to be honest, largely because I struggle with their voices. And when I say “struggle with their voices” I mean “it is so genuinely painful an outcome when I see what I’ve done, that I just delete it immediately and pretend it never happened.”

3. Favorite pairing

I don’t have one, despite my output being very focused on one. 😂 I do love, though:

Neve/Rook

Josephine/Leliana

Cassandra/Inquisitor

Dorian/Inquisitor

Hawke/Isabela

Warden/Morrigan

Warden/Alistair

Zevran/Alistair

Lucanis/Rook

Lucanis/Neve

…I could keep going but I’ll stop there.

4. Least favorite pairing

Probably Fenris/Anders. Not because it’s bad — if you love it, I love and support you — but it’s one that I struggle with.

5. Favorite POV and Tense

Limited third-person past, my beloved. 💖

6. Something new you did this year

I wrote a bunch of characters I never had, I tried a new modality (epistolary fic?), I tried new POVs and tenses, I tried new events…I pushed myself to try a lot of new things this year, and I am so glad that I did. It’s been a TON of fun!

7. Something other people have told you that you're good at

Finding raccoon gifs. Normally an underrated skill, but I’m glad it’s found an audience. 🙂‍↕️

8. Something you think you're good at

Finding raccoon gifs. But also, I think I have a decent handle on writing dialogue?

I haven’t written in a week, so I am in the “unsure” phase of my assessments of my own writing, so don’t mind me.

9. Something you want to improve on

Still working on description and showing more than telling, both areas where I historically struggle, but I think I’m making progress and the work shall continue!

10. Favorite thing you read this year

Oooooof, tough choice. Impossible, even. I will limit myself to two, but please know that I am crying at being forced to make this choice.

delicate by @juniper-and-dragonthorn (Neve/Rana, Rated M). The yearning, the bad with feelings, the small things that show deep affection and connection…yes please.

All That the Maker Has Wrought is in His Hand by @mageofquandrix (Dorian/Ashur, Rated T). Again with the yearning — this is clearly a Thing for me — and Dorian’s voicing here is so incredible and spot-on. Just /chef’s kiss

11. Favorite event you did this year

@datvcompanionweeks, hands down. All of them. Every single one.

12. Favorite song to listen to while you write/get you in the writing mood

This depends so heavily on what I’m writing, or wanting to write, that I actually don’t think I can answer this with less than an essay. 😅

13. Favorite type of fic to write (crack, fluff, angst, smut, etc)

I feel like most of my offerings fall into a fluff-ish area, so it would seem that’s my vibe and I am perfectly happy with that. 😁

Such a fun game, thanks so much @woundedsoul12!

Blank template for anyone who wants to play below the cut! ☺️

Fandom: Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Pairing: Neve/Rook

Rated: E

Summary: As Neve grapples with the unsettling pull of domestic comfort and the haunting echoes of a dream, the spirit’s patience wears thin. With the lunar change approaching and desire simmering beneath her skin, Neve must decide whether to cling to isolation or risk crossing the line with Ivy; before the choice is taken from her entirely.

Preview under the cut:

Neve paying for fried fish with a whole ass-pouch of coins in A Study of Dock Town implies three possibilities:

  1. Tevinter economy is experiencing absolutely bonkers inflation
  2. Neve is massively overpaying Halos and singlehandedly keeping his business afloat (no wonder he keeps insisting on giving her fish for free next time, she's already paid for like 5 years of fish dinners in advance)
  3. Neve is paying Halos in literal pennies from her piggy bank (no wonder he keeps insisting on giving her fish for free next time, he's sick of counting all those coppers)
