Do you think you could maybe draw Silka in her interview outfit?

If you drew her (no pressure, of course!) would it be alright for me to use it as my profile picture? I'm a huge fan of your art and I'd love to look at it every day!

Absolutely! I actually already drew her last year in her interview dress but I would LOVE to redraw her! She was my fav part of sotr (other than Maysilee)

Here's the old drawing (or what my ibis paint cloud storage saved!

starting a new lineup of ancient mythology/ancient mythology retelling ships

achilles + dido from the aeneid, I will never forget my favorite hot toxic carthaginian x trojan doomed failmarriage that canonically fucked their way through the winter. 6/10 for great chemistry but really weird and messy as a long term romantic relationship

achilles + patroclus from the song of achilles, childhood best friends/companions turned lovers trope my beloved, one of them did medicine while the other mastered the art of war and murder, achilles killed his lover's murderer despite knowing that it would seal his prophesized fate. soulmates. 10/10

odyssey + penelope (or at least what i've seen of them in TSOA). he refused to speak ill of his wife to compare her to another woman (standards are on the floor for men these days but I do appreciate his firm conviction and principles.) there is clear fondness and affection and loyalty and he seems like a very reasonable and chill dude. would love to get to know them more. 8/10

Also more thoughts on the casting choices. Having a 20 year old 5’9” Jennifer Lawrence playing the small, malnourished girl and 18 year old 5’5” Josh Hutcherson playing the tall and strong boy was a bit of an… awkward choice to say the least. They did a lot of good work to make the height difference less extreme and I appreciate that! And honestly it doesn’t change much for me (people can be tall and malnourished, even though I’d probably imagine book Katniss’s growth was stunted. Likewise people can be well/decently fed and on the shorter side). It’s not something that bugs me nearly as much as other things, like Peeta not being physically disabled in the movies.

But the age thing is INCREDIBLY noticeable to me and it does throw me off sometimes. Specifically in the scene where Clove is tackling and pinning Katniss… Isabella Fuhrman, only about 14-15, is noticeably TINYYYYYY and young compared to Jennifer Lawrence. They hide it pretty well from the camera, but there’s a clip somewhere of the actors working on the scene and it’s just. Wow. I think Lawrence also (gently! They’re just messing around :)) knocks her over with just her legs. Sorry it’s just a bit comical to believe that Katniss couldn’t get up with this little teacup of a girl on top of her.

so idk how many people here have had the pleasure of this experience but whenever someone shortens my name i usually hate it however the singular exception was when the boy I liked said this nickname with such warmth and it sounded so good coming from him that it melted me a little and I didn't bother to make him stop calling me that

clove cannot stand when people have the gall to call her "clover" or such ridiculous nicknames because it's overly familiar which doesn't sit well with her as someone who avoids close connections if she can, and it also to her diminishes her value and makes it belittle her efforts to be taken seriously as a hunger games tribute HOWEVERRRRR cato calls her "clovey" one day like he just lets it slip without thinking too much of it and maybe he's too far away from her and just staring in her direction as he says it or maybe he does it with a large palm on her shoulder taking up most of the surface area of her frame. but the way the two syllables sound on his tongue and with his voice... because his tone is definitely firm and treating her as an equal but there's also familiarity and affection to it that she would correct anyone else for with a vicious punishment but all she can do is just stand there and melt a little. it's a shock to her system how pleasant it sounds if it is cato saying it as opposed to anyone else.
