"character doing a c+ job of breaking the cycle of abuse" is such a crunchy dynamic forever. what if i'm giving my all to give you a better life than i had and i'm succeeding but "better" just isn't quite enough. what if my blind spots and deeply ingrained trauma and inexperience mean that you will be indelibly scarred by me despite my best efforts. what if my abuser's influence still bleeds through at times because i know nothing else. what if i go so far in the opposite direction to avoid it that i hurt you in ways i couldn't have anticipated. what if my undeniable love and unforgivable shortcomings came part and parcel with each other. what if your love and gratitude and resentment and pain came part and parcel too. what if we both knew you deserved better but i was all you had. what if we had to move forward and reckon with that. what then
late poem to my father by sharon olds. if you even care
yeah
hi guys! discord is doing a survey on how people would like ai to be integrated into discord. take it and say fuck no to every question. when you get to "in general, how do you feel about discord inegrating ai features?", respond that you would actively get everyone you know off of discord and wouldn't pay for nitro or other shop items if they added ai features.
watch out for the trap! there's ONE QUESTION where the last option *isn't* the max 'no AI' option, read each part carefully to be sure
burn it 🔥

more commentary:
I kinda expected this art post to have non black people be hesitant to interact with it because they are worried they're being racist, people ignoring the message in some sense to go "hot" or people finding it funny because I used slurs I can reclaim but beyond that the other response is nice.
non black people have a habit of seeing "radical" black art and all its aesthetics and seeing if they can find it meme-able or completely miss the point because they find authentic blackness too "foreign and taboo" when it's reclaimed and not removed from the people.
but also there were a lot of people being respectfully mature about the art and feeling really uplifted by it which means a lot in a white dominated world where my culture is nothing but a joke or something to appropriate to the point where it's erased all traces of it's black origins
In today's linguistics class we talked about metaphors, and we really want two of the ones we talked about to become conventionalised.
So first of all this one girl told us about a newer metaphor in Russian, "I have paws", which is something you say when you don't really want to do something, so you say you're incapable of doing it since you have paws instead of hands. Like, "hey, finish that report" "aw but I have paws :(" and I think that's adorable. It's like "I'm just a girl" but for animals.
We also had the task to invent a novel metaphor and have the others guess what it means, and the teacher really liked my "she's such a capybara" = "everyone loves her". Capybara energy is like golden retriever energy except you're chill about it. You're just vibing and everyone digs that.
Anyway I think these deserve to become more common in English
VERY important addition oh my gosh,,,
I love humanity
"You're misgendering yourself, oh please stop misgendering yourself, oh you can't say that you're misgendering yourself-"
I mean next they're gonna say, "stop acting like a fucking faggot and be a real man." Why the fuck should anyone else decide what is misgendering oneself? Like gender liberation means waking up to the fact that trans people (literally all of us) are systemically denied the agency to describe ourselves and our experiences.
Also?? Are multigender people just like a fucking frivolity in this world where everyone is misgendering themselves for benefits?
It is a sneaky way to enforce certain behaviors as appropriate to one's gender, which, let's be so real here, is just regular ass cissexism.
Hey you!
Yeah, you!
Would your gender be considered "weird" by people? Do you have a gender that can't be described with a label? Is your gender a concept?
Are you interested in explaining your gender?
If so, I have a little survey you can fill in right here!
Additional info: this survey is purely because I'm curious as to how people would describe their own gender. The information you give will probably not be shared, and if it is, I guarantee anonimity (ex. "I know a person who..." or "I saw someone once who..."). If you're not comfortable sharing your gender identity with some random stranger on the internet, it's fine, of course! You are in no way obligated to answer this. Again, I'm doing this out of pure curiosity.
