@non-binary-lil-star

This is my weird ass blog. Welcome to the place I call home (if you hear screaming from the basement, don't worry, it's just yk ) they/ them β˜† elu/delu/e he/ him ele/ dele 18 years of being in this hell Brasileire Free Palestine, black lives matter, protect trans women, etc, many other things, but yk, just treat people with decency and respect cause everybody deserves it.

I am shocked at how many people don't have an actively hostile relationship with advertising

I am skipping your ads as fast as I can. I'm skipping past your sponsor read. I'm muting the tv. I'm muting the tab. If they get too annoying I will simply stop trying to watch.

If advertisers can use every manipulative trick in the book to get me to buy their product, I am fully within my rights to do everything I can on my end to make their job impossible

Sometimes I can still hear their voice

Breaking: TikTok is better bc it’s more hostile towards humanity

The lack of video content is what kept us here... I thought we all agree that the best feature of this hellhole was and always will be anonymity.

Tumblr's not asking for my phone number. It's not going through my contacts to try and connect me with my fucking colleagues. I can come here and talk about whatever I want without anyone ever seeing my face or hearing my voice. I don't have to censor myself and hide my interests or enthusiasm out of fear of consequences it might have in my real life.

I think the biggest misunderstanding they have of Tumblr is that they think of it as a social media platform when in actuality it's a blogging platform with social features.

I like the use of Metroman here because if there's one thing Tumblr users collectively agree on it's that we want everyone to think we're dead

From Snow White’s cherry-red lipstick to the balloon sleeves on Ariel’s wedding gown, every Disney princess reflects the trends of their debut era, even though many of them take place during some nebulous history period.Β

  • Snow White’s look was based on models from Vogue, Woman’s Own, and Modern Home magazines, Simplicity sewing patterns, and Sears catalogs. The movie was released in 1937.
  • Cinderella’s look was based on models from Ladies’ Home Journal and Better Living magazines, Sears catalogs, and β€˜everyday life’ photo archives from The Library Of Congress. The movie was released in 1950.
  • Aurora’s look was based on a mix of Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, and Good Housekeeping magazines from the 1960’s, and Woman’s Own, Woman’s Weekly, and My Home magazines from the 1940’s. I also used 1940’s Simplicity sewing patterns, and late 1950’s Sears and Lane Bryant catalogues. Sleeping Beauty was released in 1959 and got mixed reviews and lackluster sales.
  • Ariel’s look was based on models from Elle and Vogue magazines, and characters from Golden Girls, Designing Women, and Full House tv shows. The Little Mermaid was released in 1989.
  • Belle’s look was based on models from Rolling Stone and National Enquirer magazines, and characters from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Friends, and Twin Peaks tv shows. Beauty And The Beast was released in 1991.
  • Jasmine’s look was based off of promotional pictures of The Pussycat Dolls, Destiny’s Child, and Spice Girls outfits, and also of celebrities Teri Hatcher and Alia Shawkat from the 90’s. Aladdin was released in 1992.
  • Pocahontas’ look was based off of Anthropologie, Free People, and Urban Outfitters clothing from the late 90’s, and also loose pieces found under the tag β€˜boho’ and β€˜hippie’ on modern sites such as Etsy and Ebay. Pocahontas was released in 1995.
  • Mulan’s look was based off of models from Sinorama, International Screen, ε°ε§θˆ‡ε€ͺε€ͺ, and STREET magazines from the late 90’s, as well as characters from movies Chungking Express and Days Of Being Wild. Mulan was released in 1998.
  • Tiana’s look was based off of GQ, Esquire, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar magazines from the 2000’s. The Princess And The Frog was released in 2009.
  • Rapunzel’s look was based on characters from Hardcore Pawn and Worst Cooks In America tv shows, as well as movies The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Easy A, Scott Pilgrim VS The World, and Love, Simon. Tangled was released in 2010.
  • Anna’s look was based on various real-time fashion looks under the tags β€˜grunge’, β€˜flannel’, and β€˜tomboy’ in various social media timelines. Frozen was released in 2013, and Frozen 2 in 2019.
  • Elsa’s look was based on red carpet and metgala outfits, as well as Orthodox Scandinavian Christian fabric embroidery from Scandinavia.
  • Moana's look was based off of various real-time fashion looks under the tags 'athleisure' and 'fitspo'. Moana came out 2016.

Fascinating stuff, thanks! :-)

Unironically I think the early to mid 20s age group in America has unbelievably bad consent boundaries on all levels and so much language to defend it but this makes me sound like elon musk if I say it however the commonality of someone who will be like β€œI had 47 panic attacks and it’s your fault” if you tell them no is insane

I rejected someone and got called β€œthe scariest person I’ve ever met” with so much therapy speak interspersed like alright okay alright okay alright okay

β€œYou just say whatever you’re thinking and I don’t know how to handle it” was verbatim part of this conversation. Also everyone hates to see an autistic bitch

When I was in this age bracket, there was a huge emphasis on improving consent culture via graceful rejection, and it's gone by the wayside. Which sucks.

Twice in my youth (once in high school and once in college) I was in situations where I was asking someone out and I could tell they were calculating in their heads the risks of rejecting me, and both times I said, out loud, "you can say no, I wouldn't have asked if I wasn't prepared for either answer." And then they said no. This wasn't some spark of special wisdom I had - I knew to do it because feminist conversations among my age group brought it up regularly. This isn't happening nearly enough anymore.

More recently, I was really glad when we got to "rejection sensitive dysphoria" in my IOP program and it was one of those symptoms where the therapists really emphasized how it affects others. Because it does.

Being someone who cannot handle rejection makes you much more likely to violate boundaries, and yes, that includes sexual ones. Yes, you, reader who has never hurt a fly. If you don't want to stumble backwards into sexually assaulting someone, fix your RSD meltdowns. If you keep them up it's only a matter of time. Because if you're nice enough to interact with, but are known to have RSD meltdowns, guess what happens when your friends and acquaintances need to reject you?

The worst person you could ever meet in your lifetime still has a favorite breakfast cereal.

I knew a rapist who was an absolute ride-or-die friend to his gamer bros. Like, give the last dollar from his pocket to a friend who got a flat tire, and then turn around and go rape a Freshman that evening.

I knew a vicious child abuser who wept like a baby when her dog died.

The nastiest human being on the planet nevertheless feels obscurely melancholy sometimes, or has high spirits when they step out doors on the first warm day of spring, or has opinions on their favorite TV show and which side the toilet paper should hang on and whether or not the room should be cold or warm when you go to sleep.

We're all still just people. Complex, with fully-realized interior worlds.

None of that will save you from becoming a monster, if you decide to do monstrous things.

None of it makes you exempt from the consequences of monstrosity.

Rumi, checking her emails: Bills, fanmail, bills, stupid ad deals, something that probably should have gone to Bobby, fanmail... oh huh. Someone is asking if they can make a parody of one or more of our songs.
Mira: People already do that, don't they? We encourage it.
Rumi: Yeah, but this guy's asking anyway.
Mira: Huh. That's considerate of them. Who is it?
Rumi: Some parody artist named Alfred Yankovic.
Mira: Oh, I think I've heard of him, isn't he kind of a big deal in the states-
Zoey, kicking open the door: YES YES YES TELL HIM YES A THOUSAND TIMES YES A MILLION TIMES YES LET HIM DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH OUR MUSIC
Mira: Definitely a big deal.
Zoey: ASK HIM IF HE'S DOING A POLKA MEDLEY PLEASE I NEED TO HEAR GOLDEN ON THE ACCORDION THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE OH MY GOSH DO YOU THINK HE'LL LET ME CAMEO IN THE MUSIC VIDEO-
Rumi: So... we tell him yes?
Mira: We tell him yes.
Zoey: EEEEEEEEEEE WEIRD AL KNOWS WHO I AM THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE

ai can never ever write half as good as an average tired writer who pulls an all-nighter writing a slow burn gay fanfiction for their favorite fictional characters out of hyperfixation, love, passion and spite they have for the way canon treated their little gay ship

DO NOT CALL THE REGULAR POLICE.

they are not on your side.

Very explicitly, in the video, the regular police straight up lie to the couple, telling them they will go to jail for harboring a fugitive if they dont hand the doordasher over, and that it doesnt matter if ice has a warrant for her arrest. NEITHER OF THESE THINGS ARE TRUE. You CANNOT be harboring a fugitive if the person you are haboring doesnt have a warrant out for their arrest! The warrant is what makes them a fugitive!

If ice wants access to someone on your property, do NOT hand them over unless you are shown a warrant signed by a judge! Make as much noise as you can to attract bystanders - it was the fact that a crowd gathered and started yelling at them that made ice leave in the video. And DO NOT expect the regular police to help you - they are just another arm of the state and will only do or say whatever they think is necessary to make you comply.

And make sure you film everything so you have evidence of what really happened if ice tries to enter your property illegally.
