"Jason breaks into Wayne Manor to—"
Sure. Okay. But you're forgetting the most important thing.
Jason breaks into Wayne Manor to steal his favourite toy back. He adored it before his death, even after he grew 'too old', decided it was embarrassing to still sleep with a cuddly toy, it was still close by. In his bed, or on the dressing table, never far.
It helped him feel safe. A relic of before. Before he died, yes. But also, before Bruce. A crude, hand-made bear from Willis, unable to afford anything more that birthday, with the eyes stitched on as delicately as Catherine could manage with the tremors in her hand. Ugly as sin, but made with love, and Jason refused to let it rot away in Wayne Manor.
He breaks in. Goes to his old room. It's barren, so he moves up to the attic instead. Sure enough, he finds all of his belongings packed away neatly in boxes, and digs through until he finds the bear, making a quick retreat with Mr Snuggles back to his safehouse, expecting to get away scot-free.
He doesn't expect, when he opens his door the next morning upon incessant pounding, to be faced with Bruce Wayne. He doesn't expect the quick, too quick to stop punch, either. Brucie Wayne, a civilian that publicly does not know how to throw a punch to save his life, having Jason down, gasping for air, trying to breathe through the pain on the floor in mere seconds, storming into house past him, and it's all Jason can do to be glad he has the helmet on.
He just manages to catch a glimpse of Bruce, cradling the ratty bear to his chest, looking like he is in agony for a moment before his face is wiped clean, and he storms back towards Jason, but Mr Snuggles hangs from a gentle, caring grasp.
Coming back out, Mr Snuggles in hand, he crouches next to where Jason is still lying, and plants a foot in his chest. "I don't care what grudge you have with me, Red Hood. I don't care you know my identity. But my family—Jason—is off limits. Stay away from them, and stay away from my home. I'll deal with you on patrol."
Bruce storms out again, the entire exchange didn't even take two minutes, and Jason is left on the floor, not quite sure what happened. Clearly, he miscalculated. Maybe, Bruce didn't forget him quite as easily as he thought.
