“To make this journey, we’ll need imagination, but imagination alone is not enough, because the reality of nature is far more wondrous than anything we can imagine.”

These are just a few of the beautiful visual effects from Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey

Imagine how it would look if the Orion nebula is only four light years away - the distance the nearest star is to us, instead of 1,300 light years. It would be so bright that we wouldn’t be aware of the dark sky. We wouldn’t see other stars. The whole world would be the Orion nebula and the sun.

In anticipation of Neil deGrasse Tyson leading yet another episode of Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, I decided to create a piece of fan art. I went for a comic book style this time, and I couldn’t resist placing the focus on Clair Patterson’s sad assistant.

The animated images are stills taken from the sneak peak of tonight’s episode—Episode Seven: A Clean Room.

This episode was really worth watching if you haven't seen it

Spoiler alert: big oil has been fucking people over for longer than I've been alive

Spoiler Alert: Big Oil was the bad guy (worth a watch)
