Fuck JKR!

@official-anti-jkr-posts

official anti-JKR posts and information. he/it, trans. white, TME. HP fans fuck off. queue lasts until: 22nd Feb

Short blog intro

It's not complex. This is an anti–JK Rowling blog. I think that the HP fandom should stop interacting with the series in any and all forms immediately.

Transfeminism is incompatible with supporting JKR, directly or indirectly. If you do, you are not supportive of trans women, but I guess "feminism is for everyone" only means cis women and it's sooo totally different when it's about your hyperfixation, right?

You are giving money and visibilty to a hate campaign destroying the lives and rights of transfems specifically. This is separate from general anti-queer campaigns in that it is rooted in transmisogyny and it is important to recognise this. I have no doubt that JKR and her associates are not supportive of the queer community at large, but this, specifically, is horrific transmisogyny.

(Sidenote: I am a transfem ally and you should be too. "Transandrophobia" is not a valid concept or framework and transfems are especially and uniquely oppressed. I won't debate this. Engage with transfeminism or fuck off.)

The author and her works are also massively racist and anti-semitic (elaboration to be added). You should not fucking support her.

Housekeeping

This blog runs on a queue. I will reblog anything I deem fitting with the tag #anti jkr posts.

Asks and submissions are open! Anon is turned on. No bad faith engagement please!

I will also be creating a post that explains everything better, with links to resources, places to donate, etc. Give it about a week.

DNI

I know these are, like, passé or something now, but it seems relevant here.

No TERFs, transphobes, transmeds, or queerphobes of any description. No racists or xenophobes or anti-immigration sentiment. No ableists or fatphobes. No bigots or bad-faith engagement.

This blog is minor-friendly and meant to be a safe, unbigoted space.

Rather, because they view us as “men,” they imagine that male sexual “contamination” and “corruption” practically oozes out of us...We are the embodiment of sexual stigma in their minds. We are a contamination event that must be stopped at all costs." - Julia Serrano

and what are we going to do when the HP series comes out and we start seeing a resurgence of the fandom here including gifsets and fics. like are u guys gonna bring up your neurodivergence and cry "can we separate the art from the artist!!!!! you dont need to pay to watch it!!!!!its my comfort show and I'm DEPRESSED and AUTISTIC"

what then

Important addition:

Reminder that "separating the art from the artist" is a sentiment that only works when the artist is dead and no longer profiting off the work in question.

JKR is still very much alive and very much openly devoted to spending as much of her money on efforts that increase transphobia. You cannot separate this artist from this art, because she is heartily using funds from that art to fund hate groups.

Do not watch it. Do not pirate it. Do not talk about it. Have nothing to do with it whatsoever.

If anything, separating the art from the artist is the reason why you shouldnt engage with JK's work

There's nothing wrong with having liked the books, films, or videogames. But promoting her as an author or as a person allows her to promote herself as a reactionnary activist

JKR attacking ace people recently after years of intense transphobia should tell you that these people hate all LGBTQIA+ folks, but they start by going for the most marginalized and misunderstood ones. they’ll move on to hating pan and bi and then all of us.

it was never about "protecting the children" from the scary transgenders and it was always about punching down on already small and marginalized communities.

to think they have selective homophobia is delusional, to think that “oh no i’m not one of these weird gender people” is delusional. to think you're safe from their hate is delusional egoism. "oh no not me im not xenogender" "oh no not me im not trans" "oh no not me im the normal one"

at some point it will be you and by then there will be no one left to fight for your rights. this is how you weaken a community, by telling some they’re worth more than the rest.

the fact that harry potter still trends regularly on this site astounds me. why don’t y’all go watch some actual good movies, like howl’s moving castle. perhaps even read some better books, like howl’s moving castle

for years people have been saying this is a pro-hmc post. and today i am tiredly letting it be known this is an anti-hp post. hmc was just the first other piece of magical book+movie media i could think of. i made this because i fucking hate jk rowling

Anonymous asked:

why do so many potterheads use the fuck jkr tag its pathetic virtue signalling at its weakest lol

It is 100% virtue-signalling, trying to show their dislike while simultaneously giveing her money, time, attention, and support.

JKR has also stated that she sees any support of her work as support of her views, so they're not fooling anyone.

I generally like to highlight positive things with my comics, so unless anything new happens with Harry Potter/JK Rowling down the road I’m anticipating this being the last time I want to have a comic on the subject.

There was another idea that folks were putting out there in comment threads last week that I thought was a little silly, so I’d like to quickly address it in non-comic form: folks saying that anything we consume has some kind of morally dubious strings attached.

To that point, I absolutely agree!  Everything we consume, especially in more affluent nations, has some amount of exploitation involved.

Where I break away from this concept, however, is that folks were listing things like gasoline, electronics, food, clothing, etc.

What, exactly, is the caloric value of Harry Potter?

When parents come back from work and put food on the table, are they serving up a hot tray of Weasley sibling plushies?

How did they earn the money to provide that plentiful bounty if not by using fossil fuels and telecommunication devices in a society that compels their use?

Equating a book series to necessities like food/clothing/etc is an intellectually dishonest argument.

Saying “don’t consume Harry Potter” is literally offering self-proposed allies a simple, insanely easy layup.

The fact that doing something that requires zero effort, nor is asking any life sacrifice to be made, is still too much of an ask for some people tells you what you probably already know:

Those folks were never allies to begin with.

One more thing that I want to touch on regarding responses from last week.  I’ve been making comics for fifteen years; for the most part, I wouldn’t respond to negative comments, but one thing I would never respond to was cruel comments.

There was a comment that, for me anyway, fit the bill of “cruel”.  The person in question accused me of not being transgender, and that I’m a bad actor MAGA trying to stir up strife.  I couldn’t see the whole of the comment as it was deleted before I woke up the next day, but in my notifications on mobile I was able to see the commenter’s name and the first bit of what they wrote.

For the first time in my life, I responded to a cruel comment.  Here’s what I wrote:

---

Hey!

Wanted to reach out to you regarding a comment you made to me that appears to have been deleted.  I first saw it on mobile and was only able to see part of the comment, but of what I did see, it read:

“Hi!  Just wanted you to know that I am an ally to trans people, but not you, because you don’t deserve allies.  I honestly don’t even think you are actually a real trans person.  You’re more than likely a right-wing MAGA who just wants to pick fights and cause trouble for the LGBTQ…”

               -your comment

I’m sure to a degree you knew that this was wrong to say, as it appears as though you’ve deleted the comment.

What I’m not sure about is why you came to the conclusion that you did, and I’d like to understand.

My comic is available online and I don’t hide anything about myself, at least not anymore since I came out.  As a quick rundown of my journey to this point, I was questioning my gender starting around twelve/thirteen, knew I was trans at twenty, didn’t speak a word of it until I was twenty-nine when I came out to a few people, then didn’t do anything about it again until I was thirty-five and decided that I wanted to transition.  I then publicly came out at thirty-six (I’m currently thirty-seven).

It took a long time to get to a point where I could overcome the shame I had for how I felt, and an even longer time to finally start talking about this part of myself that I was compelled to hide.

It’s an awful thing for someone to waltz into a situation multiple decades in the making and then declare that a journey they had no part in or knowledge of to be untrue.

Even the smallest amount of double checking would have revealed that I’m being genuine, it’s a shame you decided to say such a hurtful thing with no due diligence.

I’ve strolled through your comment history to better understand where you’re coming from.  I appreciate that you are someone with strong convictions and that you’re open to communicating them.  However, a lot of what you’re saying doesn’t appear to be productive.

For one, having strong convictions mean nothing when you’re voting third party.  I understand that you voted blue in 2024, but it looks like Libertarian is your party most of the time.  There is no such thing as neutral on a moving train.  You either push the train forward, or try to stop it.  Neutrality only helps the people pushing the train forward.

While my comic certainly is accusatory of a specific behavior, I’m not looking to pick a fight.  Your comments, however, are calling people losers, telling people to “stay mad”, telling people they’re worthless, and gloating about all the sex you’re having.

That’s what trying to pick a fight looks like, why are you doing it?

I’m not going to pretend to understand the story of your life, or tell you that your experiences aren’t true.  But what I can say is that I have an understanding of what it’s like to be angry at things in life and not always have the most elegant words to communicate those feelings.

Whatever it was in life sparked so much anger in you that you decided to invalidate my identity so casually and callously, I’m sorry that happened and I hope things improve for you.

Best,

Alex

I guess that’s all I’ve got to say today.

Last week was weird.

Our boy “the fake trans ally” is back!  Everyone wave!

There was a subreddit that popped up on r/all for me recently called r/HarryPotteronHBO, a post about some characters that had just received their casting announcements for the new HBO Harry Potter show.

I was intrigued to see what the discourse on that sub would be regarding J.K. Rowling’s politics, and was confused when there wasn’t a single word about it…

…until I saw the subreddit rules.

One of their rules states that discussing her politics is not allowed, with the following explanation:

“To maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment, this subreddit does not allow discussions about J.K. Rowling’s political beliefs, public statements, or involvement in real-world political or social issues.

This community is for fans who want to discuss the upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO and the wider universe including the books and films. Conversations about the author’s personal views often lead to division, heated arguments, and discomfort for members who simply want to enjoy the world of Harry Potter.

We recognize that J.K. Rowling’s political commentary has affected how many people engage with the franchise, and understand that her activism has negatively impacted transgender individuals. However, this subreddit exists to focus on the fictional world and to give fans of all backgrounds a space to enjoy that world without being drawn into broader political debates.”

- Rule 10: Discussions Regarding JK Rowling's Political Views Are Not Allowed, r/HarryPotteronHBO

Obviously, this is a load of horseshit.

If you’re literally saying, “we recognize that we’re promoting the work of someone who is actively harming a marginalized community buuuuut…”, feel free to stop right there and begin reflecting on why you value your entertainment more than the lives of other people.

You know she’s harming trans people.  You know she’s using her wealth to do it.  You know promoting her new show will add to her wealth.

You know your promotion of the show is harming trans people.

The rule begins with, “To maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment…”

There is nothing inclusive about promoting content that harms marginalized communities, especially when you recognize that the content is doing harm.  You don’t have the ability to say “I had no idea!”, you’re literally acknowledging that she’s doing harm.

Just say what you really mean.  Just say that you don’t care about trans people.

I’m more mad that you’re pretending to be inclusive.

Listen, I loved Harry Potter growing up, I did!  I was the same age as Harry as the books came out and it was touching and fun to read.

…but sometimes we need to decouple ourselves from things we used to enjoy when they cause harm.

In the case of Harry Potter, it’s not like there aren’t other fantasy book series out there, there’s plenty to choose from!  If you’re still consuming Harry Potter content in 2025, just admit that you value your nostalgia more than other peoples’ lives.

At least you won’t be a liar.

Saying this right fucking now.

I don’t want to see ANY of you touching that fuckass new Harry Potter series.

That woman has set us back YEARS. YEARS. And whose money is she using to do it? People who continually support her and her sorry excuse for a book series.

If you simply must watch it? Pirate. It’s not hard.

Do not give her money. Do not give her a platform. Do not contribute. Please.

Just wanna jump off of this post to remind y'all of three things.

  1. Anti trans legislation was recently passed in the UK as a direct result of JK's funding
  2. She has stated that she takes any interaction with the Harry Potter franchise as an endorsement of her views.
  3. The only reason the new series exists is because JK threw a hissy fit over Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and I believe Rupert Grint all disavowed her transphobia, so she remade the series.
