I guess I do have a lot to say about The Discourse surrounding the “I’d burn it all down” line because no, it’s not too self-aware or too early or out of character!

Like, idk why everyone is just ignoring all the context leading up to this but Percy just found out his brother is DEAD and he blames himself for it. Then, this witch lady tells him that the thing about himself that he believes is his only good quality (standing up for others to the point of self-sacrifice) could actually kill not just himself but like everyone else too. This is after he just got news that he has to make a huge decision that will actually determine the fate of the world. He knows that if faced with a situation like the one where he just lost his brother, he would absolutely destroy everything to make sure it didn’t go like that again. And that’s terrifying to him! He doesn’t know wtf to do except tell the only friend he has left that he is dangerous because of this.

Meanwhile, y’all are out here debating if he’s declaring his undying love for Annabeth or something.
