♫I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints♫ Here with Gravity Falls, Ninjago, Deltarune/Undertale, Pokemon, Nintendo, and various other fandom shenanigans. (And before you ask, no I don't take requests)

Hey, do you have kids? Maybe young cousins or niblings? Or maybe you just like cute comics for children?

Then have I got a book for you!

Daddy and the Beanstalk, written by Andrew Weiner and illustrated by Bethany Crandall.

My sister's first published comic is now available from Little Brown Ink!

It's a children's comic book, meant to be read to young children as a bedtime story.

Please buy copies for everyone you know! Ask your library to carry it! The more copies that are sold, the more likely they are to do a reprint, which will mean residuals!

Look how cute the art is! LOOK AT IT!!

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

i just saw a post on reddit titled "the writer is cooking but the food doesn't agree with me" and it was about OP clicking off a fic because they don't like the direction it's going in. slightly different context but can we all be more like this reddit OP. i think "the writer is cooking but the food doesn't agree with me" should be the new "don't like don't read." dead doves may give you diarrhea but don't make that everyone else's problem.

this is a great way to frame it lol like just bc i'm lactose intolerant doesn't mean i should leave a bad review on the ice cream parlor

the nearest depiction of an animal or other sentient fantasy creature to you at this moment comes to life right where it is (i.e. cat photograph, shark plushie, dragon painting, etc)

assume it doesn’t know you (unless it’s actually a specific animal you’ve met) and that it’s normal for its species and would do whatever was natural for it. including being too giant for and destroying the room it’s in. as well as dying immediately if its environment can’t support its life

Also his deeply underrated ability to clap back

Reminds me of that story about the teacher or lecturer or whatever who told their class "hey, the ceiling has 'gullible' written on it" and anyone who looked up discovered that yep, the word "gullible" really had been written on a piece of card and taped to the ceiling. And after letting that sink in for a while the teacher said something like "those of you who looked up have just demonstrated one of the most important tenets of research: check the source."

I understand why many are emphasizing that our neighbor Renee was a citizen, but I want to state that this blog believes that we must protect and defend ALL our neighbors from ICE here in Minnesota.

ICE cannot be allowed to murder anyone in our home. No one should be mourning their mother, their wife, their daughter, and their friend today.

Undocumented Minnesotans, I hope you’re safe today, I hope your community is stepping up to take care of you, your life is just as important.

The briefcase is like double the size it should be for metaphor reasons and definitely not because I drew the pose first and chose his seat way later. Totally just more room for old products.

"I need to stop starting fandom projects so I stop disappointing people."

  • it's okay to disappoint people
  • it's okay to work slowly
  • it's okay to let yourself rest
  • it's okay to drop projects

Stop treating yourself like you are the workers at a fast food franchise.

Your writing is a hobby, don't let it turn into a source of guilt, shame and frustration instead of a source of joy.
