Have you done a ranked Ghost album? Its very difficult for me to chose and stack them. They're all so great, I feel like i go through phases of which album is the best for me at that moment in time ;_;
I do have a clear idea of which albums I prefer and how to rank them! I also have a personal ranking/review of each song on each album. I just never posted them! But I did a Ghost songs ranking in a tag game a while ago.
The first three albums all have the same value to me and are all my favorites. It’s the sound that made me fall in love with Ghost, but if I have to dissect them, my top three would be:
1. Infestissumam
2. Opus Eponymous
3. Meliora
Followed by:
5. Impera
7. Prequelle (equal to Skeletá)
9. Skeletá (equal to Prequelle)

I’m curious, what’s your take on Terzo’s working title for Meliora being Absentia? (This is from the art notes in that one Tobias email.) What do you think Terzo may have been thinking with Absentia, and why did he change it?
Since the theme of the album is “the void that happens when there is no God, when there is no one there to help you” I really wish he had kept Absentia as the title. I really, really like it, it was perfectly fitting.
…But I must say that Meliora added a new depth to the album’s concept. It literally expanded the possibilities beyond the simple “there is no God here”. Meliora makes you wonder: what if there actually is something better, or something you believe is better, that you can reach without God’s help? Once God is gone, something has to happen, something or someone has to take His place. But who’s to say that whatever takes His place is actually better? Even if God remains absent and is not replaced, can we say the void He left would actually be better than His presence?
The way I see it, the “Meliora” Terzo refers to is himself. On the Popestar cover, he even puts himself on a pedestal (and not a random one), he is raised above everyone else, he is holding the light. But in From the Pinnacle to the Pit videoclip, he refuses to accept that power and pays with his life. He was either warning us or trying to convince us that he was actually better than God.
Even though I’m a big, big fan of Absentia, Meliora kept the concept from becoming stagnant and opened many more doors.
I got the "Spirit Yellow Black Smoke" and this is what it looks like.
It has no booklet and no 10th anniversary sticker on the cover (I know some have the sticker, but not sure which ones). The discs are very light and feel “empty”.
I was absolutely exciting with it because it has arrived at my office earlier than scheduled, so the first thing I have done once home was playing it…
Very bad decision.
It still skips. Terribly. First three songs completely messed up and by the time I write I’m at Cirice and for the first half it is a mess too.
Still don’t know if it is only my problem or if it’s a spread problem, but be aware of the risk if you want to buy.
I got mine today, but it's not the same variant as yours. I didn't try to spin it yet. But you should be able to send it back if it doesn't play properly, right?
Yours also has pictures on the sleeves, mine are just black and with thin paper 🥲
Yes you should be able to return it… I don’t want to risk customs and waiting times again so I guess I’ll just keep it. I returned too many Melioras I’m just giving up.
Maybe this can be helpful for other people so I’m happy to say that THERE IS A SOLUTION TO SKIPPING MELIORA.
I was on the point of returning it when I made my researches about skipping records and now my Meliora works perfectly.
I did two things:
Clean the disc with a microfiber cloth before playing it (I used a bathrobe belt)
Tape a coin to the record player arm. Pic below:
I read that recents vinyl pressing are not very “deep” (or something like that) and they don’t work well with record players which arms are too light, so to avoid skipping you just have to add a little weight on it. The people on the internet were right 🖤
Ps. This method works also on regular Meliora, which is notoriously a skipping mess.
