young percy in manhattan, some foreboding monster ? behind him
haven't picked up a pen in a while, partially due to being out of town for months, & partially bc i can't be bothered to draw anymore--esp digitally. 💀
but i downloaded angel ganev's free brushes after hearing really good things + i'm enjoying it a lot. i really like the composition of this one, and the rainy mood i'm going for, reminds of the lightning thief era, & it's a little nostalgic! prob won't finish, but the sketch is alr capturing the idea enough for me, and the goal was to create an atmosphere and setting successfully
Leo Valdez's Workshop/Bunker Nine - Scrapped piece lol. ⚒️🔥
As some know, recently trying to A) develop more comfort with backgrounds/scenery, both composition & rendering, and B) do more sketches instead of rendering/finishing every single drawing.
Bunker 9 felt like a good challenge, but I've decided I no longer like the design! (Kinda unfortunate as I already cleaned a lot of the sketch...) Perhaps will try again in the future. I didn't skim the source material before starting, and I'd prefer to include some of those quirky elements in the future. :) Still happy with this Leo though (he finally looks more his age LOL).
Book references to Bunker Nine (courtesy of @bunkernine) in case anyone else is interested (or I choose to revisit!): Excerpt 1, Excerpt 2, Graphic Novel Pic.
Sketch - Tamlin's Manor: Spring Court 🌷🌿
Determined to get good at backgrounds/scenery. We'll see how long this lasts. 💀 I feel like most of the courts have some irl cultures in their aesthetics. To me, Spring, both the land itself and the people (Tamlin's face!) is a bit German.
I feel like also that's why Feyre's village is largely German-inspired to me--people have just forgotten with the wall going up. Tamlin's manor here takes a lot of inspiration, accordingly, esp from Neuschwanstein Castle.
Day 1/??? (too many prob 😞)
Proud of the progress but also feeling like those mountains look useful. 🪂💀 Progress is slow but quality bc learning a new skill is no easy task! Regardless, I shall continue to bitch and moan fr. I like the colors and I see the vision clearer now. Know it looks sorta summery rn, but all the flowers and spring details will come last.
I need this building dead.
