was literally just rereading that scene in the script LOL fuckk i love it so much. i understand why it was scrapped because its technically useless but its so dear to me.......
only thing i think is salvageable from those scenes is tyler quitting smoking because itd show some kind of major change thats about to take place (imo) but otherwise its just banter in an already long movie. now ☝️ reason im a big fan is THEYREJUST BEING EMBARRASSING!!!! for no reason... tyler glooming in the kitchen because the narrator is about to leave for work...... and then Rolling His Eyes at him when he confirms hes going... and waving him off with his hand.. u are crazy. 30 year old man doing that.behaving like a teenage girl
and then the scene switches to the narrator thinking about him and how he quit his job... and deciding to do something absolutely insane in an attempt to impress him (because how else are you supposed to take this sequence of events?) and tyler ends up not even batting him an eye. literally what was the purpose of any of this. this doesnt even happen in the book. why did the narrator do a little jig out of sheer excitement . i dont think any of this was scripted
a bit sad it wasnt kept in because ill take any instance of the narrator pathetically asking for tylers attention and not getting it but . . . i think him informing the audience hed kill himself because tyler fucked marla is petty enough to fuel me for the entire movie and i think about it so often. man twirls his hair daily home from work thinking abt tyler only for him to say hi to him and ignore him for the rest of the day
now regarding the other stuff. narrator telling chloe she looks like a pirate is genuinely hysterical to me. there is not one instance of this man , book, comic or movie where he compliments a woman properly. like hes genuinely inept at it , mentioned this before but with tyler or his coworkers hed describe their figure or beauty or their hands (???? of all things. fucking fag) and (even though he doesnt go into detail) you can just tell hes seething for them cause his only comments on the women in his life are "she has anime girl eyes" or shit about her tits. real straight guy behavior man youre killing it. everybody is convinced
the entire jim uhls script is basically deleted scenes so ill only mention a couple but :
> v fond of narrator calling tyler a show off for reading a magazine.eheheh theyre so cute
> marla telling him to go fuck himself in a way that makes the reader wonder if she knows about tyler
> the whole thing abt tyler leaving the house and narrator jumping onto the phone the second he calls and enthusiastically asking "where have you been!!!!" when tyler answers.... and tyler hearing how he *thought his heart was broken... genuinely fucked me up
also this uhgrnhggggggggghgbnrr i know hes talking abt her and tyler but its so obviously also referring to tyler and him and him wondering if it has to be this way.fuuuckk
ok this is too long im not commenting on the entire jim script because he was just wriitng actual soapshipping slop i refuse to believe he didnt have intentions
