If you’re gonna be a pervert about trans women you have to be a transfeminist first. That’s literally the bare minimum
not enough people understand that disability benefits are basically what it would look like if you turned "if you're too sick for school you're too sick for video games" into an official public policy

Those in the notes worried about this being AI, it's not - her name is Pan Xiaoting and she's a badass billiards pro
Hate it when TikTok farm cosplayers and cottagecore types say stuff like "I'm not going to use modern equipment because my grandmothers could make do without it." Ma'am, your great grandma had eleven children. She would have killed for a slow cooker and a stick blender.
I’ve noticed a sort of implicit belief that people used to do things the hard way in the past because they were tougher or something. In reality, labor-saving devices have historically been adopted by the populace as soon as they were economically feasible. No one stood in front of a smoky fire or a boiling pot of lye soap for hours because they were virtuous, they did it because it was the only way to survive.
Taking these screenshots from Facebook because they make you log in and won't let you copy and paste:
“i was a bad kid” bro idc if you were a child sent from hell an adult should’ve never done that to you
You're such cuddlebait. Absolute admirationbait. Honestly respectbait. Committedlongtermrelationshipbait.
something about the whole "fuck authority" outlook that amuses me is that people tend to fall into two incorrect camps. the first assumes that hating authority is something for edgy teens to do and you grow out of it when you reach the fabled "real world." the second assumes it's about sticking it to the establishment -- government, cops, etc.
but true authority haters know the secret third thing. and that's that authority is insidious and you have to fuck it everywhere you find it. when you know something is damn well wrong but the doctor tells you it's fine and you think well i'm no expert -- surprise! you have conformed to authority. when you see somebody acting a clown in public and everyone is uncomfortable but nobody says anything -- surprise! this too is a form of authority. when you see a consequence and think to yourself "it's fine, i just won't do [thing] and then i don't have to worry about it" you have altered your style of living because of -- surprise! authority.
when you tell yourself you can't be/do x or y because That's Not How It Works. when you refuse to believe someone's lived experience because apparently it shouldn't work like that. when you come up against something outside your understanding and ridicule it or assume it's a falsehood. guess what's behind all that! that's right. someone else's authority.
we realise this as teens because we're trapped 24/7 with teachers, parents, and guardians who have ultimate power over us and we recognise the inherent unfairness and injustice of many of their decisions. when we grow older and gain more authority ourselves many forget this fact and either think it's useless immature teenage rebellion or that the issues we must rebel against grow in proportion to our new responsibilities. we forget about our duty to root it out wherever we find it. and if you don't start small you'll never get the big shit. there's a reason people don't walk into the gym and start lifting 200lb on their first day.
anyway fuck authority. and before anyone comes at me talking about degrees and experts and "oh so we should just say fuck anyone with any advantage over us?" authority is not to be conflated with experience. experience advises and authority forces. one wants you curious and independent and the other wants you unquestioning and compliant. and that my friend is the difference.
"vibes", also known as "internal biases",
I hate that people never include the finished render when posting that. it looks so good it's a shame not to.
WHEN MY FRIEND SENT ME THIS WITH THE CONTEXT, I WAS FUCKING DYING FPR A WHOLE 9 MINUTES AND I STILL LIKE TO RETURN TO THIS BECAUSE ITS SO FUNNY.
Big fan of the emphasis on platonic relationships in the dnd movie
Main character literally brings his best friend back from the dead instead of his wife WHO is doing it like them
Acknowledgement of the new person you’ve become in the wake of a great loss and that maintaining the new relationships you’ve made is always better than trying fruitlessly to return to the past 😭
my corner store guy is a 50 year old man who's my best friend in the world and recently he was like "you're too pretty to be single I have some nephews you should meet. very handsome!" and I was like "a niece might be more up my alley" and he just got more excited and said "ah even better! I was overselling my nephews but my nieces are very beautiful"
OP the tags!!
hi so i dunno if you answer questions here but- so i watched the pilot (and its absolute peak). before, when you introduced the characters in your socials and stuff, i noticed mophead was described using they/them, but in the pilot, only masc pronouns, if i am not mistaken. now this may seem silly, but is there a reason to this?
Thank you! It's because the other characters perceive them as cis. I think queerness in a setting like Ersatz' is underrepresented and it's a character thread I'd like to explore in the future
sci fi is when it's called a "mission" and fantasy is when it's called a "quest"
My transmasc siblings getting upset about being invisible compared to transfems in media is Maddening.
Have you ever looked into how transfems are often depicted in media? It’s vile.
She’s an Evil man or third-gendered thing that chooses to present femininely to deceive poor cishet men. Or she’s earnest but written solely to be humiliated and laughed at. Misgendered constantly. Her body scrutinized and violated. Her femininity portrayed as fake compared to cis women. I could go on.
Is this the visibility you want? Of course not. No one would want this.
In truth, this “hypervisibility” of transfems in media is not visibility at all. It’s Invisibility of Real transfemininity and trans womanhood and girlhood.
It makes the ignorant eye Think trans women are getting a lot of rep, when in reality it’s no representation at all. It’s complete erasure of real transfem experiences under a very thin disguise. But even a thin disguise is all transmisogynists need because most people don’t care about trans women. It’s so sinister.
We need to push for more real transfem representation. Listen to trans women’s criticisms of depictions of them in media. Uplift their transfem readings of characters. Support the work, the writing, the art of transfems.
I really had to stretch my mind thin to come up with this short list.
There's Where I Want To Be, a fic on AO3 that I've had a lot of fun keeping up with. It's so painfully truthful and cathartic in it's portrayal of a teenage transfem, and of the queerness of other characters as well. It really poked at some sore spots in my heart, personally.
There's Con Cafe Jou wa Koi wo Kiru which is a manga about fashion design whose main character is a trans woman, as confirmed by the author. I haven't actually read this one yet, but heard many good things about it from other trans women. Unfortunately, it was cancelled by the publisher three volumes in.
There's Malcatras' Maiden, an erotic horror visual novel that completely rocked my world a year ago. Absolutely devastating. So. Ethereally wounded. In almost every scene it tore my heart out and threw it across the room. I was sobbing by the end. This is a fetish work, only in so much as the fetish is a vehicle through which the author sows sharp commentary on the family structure and cycles of abuse. Highly recommend even if the sexual aspect doesn't attract you
To end on a more academic note, Stained Glass Woman is a blog that focuses on discussing and delivering scientific information on trans people (mostly trans women) in an acessible format and language. It was really important to me in my earlier days of transition, and has some articles i would really recommend to anyone.
... I guess i can also plug myself here, Love Me Like I'm Dead is my webcomic that functions as a short story collection. The second short story (starting at chapter 5) has a trans girl main character.
Thank you so much!!
