When it comes to US imperialism people remember the tactics of imperialism in the abstract but cannot apply them in the present

If I say "The US knows sanctions harm people more than governments. In fact they use sanctions to create low morale and dissatisfaction between citizens and the governments that are not complying with US will power. Sanctions create conditions ready for regime change with the support of the people" people are like yes thats what sanctions are for!

And then you try to apply that to venezuela and its like "how dare you?!?! Its more nuanced than this people are dying hes starving his people"

Did u know that the US spent millions to manufacture a food truck strike under Allende? This meant there was less delivery of food to grocery stores. This made it look like he starved his own people. The propaganda is bigger than u can imagine and you guys fall for it every time. Some of you guys think discussing this is the same thing as rejecting "nuance." Im merely saying that the US sanctions a country so that country will fall to US power and every other "truth" that X country became more repressive (e.g. imprisoning innocent people etc) is literally a result of pressure under US sanctions. Its not a science

If you're from like Latvia or Estonia or Poland or whatever and worried about what Trump's ambitions in Greenland will mean for the national security of your country maybe stop crying about NATO for five seconds and take this opportunity to consider whether or not it was a good decision to continuously antagonize Russia while believing that the United States would always have your back. As for Finland, it is also time to consider whether it was a good idea to abandon our greatest security assurances—our close and cordial diplomatic relations with Russia—for the suicide pact death cult that is NATO.
