at the end of adsom when Maxim asks "where is our son? Is he alive?" and Lila replies "thanks to Kell," it is both heartbreaking and fierce and it's one of the several moments in this series where Lila tries to support Kell to stand up for himself, tall and proud, instead of slouch and nod passively. Lila knows how Kell feels about the king and queen and sees how he wasn't exaggerating when he said that they treat him like a servant. She also saw, in contrast, how differently (paternally) Tieren treated Kell in the sanctuary, and how he trusted them without asking questions. She wants Maxim and Emira to be grateful to Kell and give credit where it's due. She saw how hard Kell fought to save Rhy, to save himself, to save everyone, and she is annoyed that they don't even acknowledge it!! Kell cuts Lila's discourse quickly because he wants to avoid punishment for speaking to the king like that. In the end he does it for her and for his peace, but it still hurts and Lila sees it. Kell doesn't understand that Lila doesn't care about the consequences of her behavior (she'll find a way to leave, as she often says). She wants that Kell is seen as the hero who saved the day and that he went through hell and back and he should be damn shouting it from the rooftops because he did the unthinkable to save them all!!
