🕊 Nadin’s Hope: A Mother, A Memory, A Future

Hello, my name is Nadin. I’m from Gaza. I’m a graphic design graduate, a wife—and now, a mother.

I finished my design studies just before the war began. I had dreams of starting a small studio, of creating art that told stories. I used to think about colors and fonts and the future.

Then, the war came. And the future became something we tried to hold onto, moment by moment.

On October 22, 2023, I learned I was pregnant when a missile destroyed my husband’s family home, killing 25 members—his mother, siblings, nieces and nephews—entire branches of our family in seconds.

We were displaced twice. Everything was gone—home, safety, routine, rest.

A few weeks later, I gave birth to our daughter. There was no crib, no celebration—not even stillness. But she arrived, quietly and beautifully. In her eyes I saw something I hadn’t felt in weeks: life that still wanted to grow.

Now, our days are shaped by decisions that could dismantle the future we are trying to build together.

Today, Israel’s government is discussing plans for a full military occupation of the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City and southern regions. The stated aim: to eliminate Hamas and later hand governing control to allied Arab forces—not Israel—but with no clear path to peace or normalcy.

The humanitarian fallout is devastating. More than 61,000 Palestinians have died in this war; hunger and malnutrition are rising sharply. Hospitals in north Gaza have shut down, and 193 people have now died of starvation, nearly half of them children.

Aid remains blocked, water is scarce, and many risk dying of hunger or disease long before future promises arrive.

We Don’t Know What Comes Next There’s no clear path forward—only uncertainty for our daughter’s life and our ability to survive another day.

How You Can Help I’m asking for support—not for comfort, but for survival:

Help us meet basic needs so we can breathe, heal, and preserve a world for our daughter.

Support us as I try to stand again on my own feet—even a glimmer of stability matters.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you can give—thank you. If you can’t—just sharing this post is a lifeline I will never forget.

Look familiar?

Bots and scammers comb through popular tags on Tumblr and mass-send asks with gofundmes or PayPal links.

These blogs often only have three posts to them, or have only ever reblogged content from blogs that have very similar names.

Praying on your empathy, they give a massive schpiel about who they are, how they're impacted, and how they desperately need your money or for you to reblog so others send them money to "help" them.

The money goes to scam artists anywhere but Gaza.

There is very few people actually "vetting" these blogs. There is no official vetting process. Do not trust Tumblr blogs or Google documents claiming to vet these posts.

If you want to help people in Gaza, please head to places like World Central Kitchen. This is an organisation that's actually helping people in Gaza by providing food and water with their Chefs for Gaza initiative.

I've had several people messaging me asking

How do I tell it's a scam?

1. You've received more than one ask with similar content about donations or signal boosting for the same event in two days.

Scammers use current events to prey on good people.

They want to make you feel bad. If you don't pay, they want you to forward their message on to someone who will.

2. The GoFundMe page details are inconsistent with what the individual is saying.

The information is often duplicated, with minor edits, from other asks and GoFundMe pages you've been sent.

The location of the person organising the GoFundMe is not in the location the GoFundMe description claims them to be.

The images can be reverse searched and found on other websites. This one is more difficult now, as scammers have begun using AI to falsify the existence of real people.

3. Compare to other social networks.

Regarding this particular scam: Tumblr is not even in the top ten of social networks of Palestine, yet Facebook, Discord and Instagram users (social networks that are) have not noted an influx of people asking for donations from Palestine -- this is because those systems have automatically marked them as spam. As veteran Tumblr users know, Tumblr is not very good at filtering spam (remember the porn bots).

4. They say their donation has been "vetted", and link to another Tumblr blog or Google document.

Often these blogs or documents have been created by the same network of people. Read through the blog: they may have suspicious AI images, strange wording, or have been created in the last two months. They will have repeated content, reblogged themselves or similar blogs only, and may also ask for voluntary donations to "keep vetting".

There is no official vetting process for Tumblr blogs asking for donations.

5. The blog sending the ask has only been created recently and has only posted a handful of times, or has reblogged Tumblr accounts with similar names and content.

Tumblr accounts made solely with the purpose of asking for good will donations have been made to circumvent people turning off anonymous asks, so you are forced to see their request for money.

The best way to help is to look locally.

Your local community (be it your town, state, or territory) will have organisations or links to organisations that genuinely assist people displaced or impacted by tragic and ongoing events.

By donating to them, you keep up the effort, support local volunteers, and promote your stance to your governing body. In addition, if you do decide to donate to an organisation you may also get a tax benefit for your donation, forcing even more government funds into the places that need it.

Don't send money overseas through an individual's fundraiser. You don't know where it's going or who it's actually supporting.

Update (62)

Rescue from danger🚨

  • Unfortunately, the tent sank and collapsed, and we are now without shelter.
  • For three days, we have been asking for warm clothes for children, fearing the cold of winter. Unfortunately, we were not able to buy them because donations are weak.
  • All 24 family members are sick now, big and small. What we are asking now is simply to provide shelter. We are now temporarily hosted by another family in their tent on the street, and their space is very tight.

Help save these lives from death.💔

Note:

  • comments: The campaign is documented by Nabulsi No. 219 in Hussein's document.
  • To donate via PayPal, contact me on this account. @siraj-s0

Every support, even if it is small, will make a difference.

Fahed (@/fahed-2) & Reem (@/reem-reem-0), fled south together with their children & their children's grandmother. Fahed's sister's family of 5 fled south as well, and the 13 of them remained together. But after 14 months of surviving hell as a unit (and nearly reaching their campaign goal) the family is now facing one of the worse decisions imaginable: who will be able to evacuate Gaza and who will be forced to stay behind.

There may be an opportunity for evacuation soon, but they're bracing for separation, with Fahed staying behind with his sister and her family. It's hard enough reunifying in Gaza, but with the border with Egypt between them, there's no telling when (or if) they'll ever see each other again. It shouldn't be a choice this family has to make: who survives, who may not. Their kids shouldn't be forcibly separated from their dad, nor Reem from her husband.

Fahed & Reem are some of the kindest, gentlest people ever, and their kids are dazzling, just absolute sweethearts. They've all lost so much and experienced too much, and somehow, kept finding a way to endure.

But right now, they might lose each other, so please: pitch in what you can, help the Shehabs stay together 🙏

Currently at $4788 (CAD) Only $212 (CAD) away to 5k

Help out however you can. No donation is too small. Thank you my friends for helping me. Please continue to donate so I can reach my goal of 5k. Your donations are what will save us. If we don't raise enough money, my family and I will have to separate, and we will be separated and far from each other. The family will be dispersed. We want to travel and leave Gaza together because my family cannot live without me. Our lives are in your hands. Please donate even a little, leave your beautiful mark in our lives. Please, everything helps and benefits us.

Please let us get to 5k as soon as possible. I am only $212 (CAD) away from the amount.

🚨This is my story 😥 Save the family of engineer Nariman Muhammad.

One morning, on October 7, 2023, we suddenly woke up to the sounds of rockets and artillery. We quickly ran, wondering what had happened and what was going on. At that moment, we didn't know or understand anything. I took my wife, my sons, and my daughters, and we left the house—the house that I had built brick by brick and spent my whole life working to create. We left with only the clothes we were wearing, without taking any of our personal belongings. The most important thing in that moment was to save ourselves from the death that surrounded us from every side. We moved away a little, searching for a safe place.

We moved away from our home, which was completely destroyed, reduced to rubble, and buried under the debris. All of our belongings, our possessions, even our memories were gone. We never returned to our home.

Since that day, we have been displaced, moving from one place to another in search of safety. Now, we live in a tent that doesn't protect me from the summer heat or the winter cold. It's extremely difficult to find food and drink because they are scarce, and we don't have the money to buy them at high prices. We also struggle to get clean water, and we have no clothes, no shoes, and no medicine. We are deprived of the basics of life and the simplest necessities.

We lost everything—our home, our jobs, everything. We can't even sleep because of the constant shelling that never stops, falling on our heads.

Our lives have truly been destroyed, without us committing any wrongdoing, and we have no connection to what happened. We are not a party in this conflict.

It is the evil people who start wars, and the innocent who pay the price. 😥

I am. Thank you from here forever and from all my heart❤️ for reaching our goal 🙏

Whatever your donation, even the price of the cup of coffee you drink, will contribute to saving a human life.🤝

Hi guys! Yujatea here! If you enjoy my work, I’d like to please ask for a moment of your time to consider helping this family I’m supporting! Shaima is a mother of four children, Abdul Rahim, Walid, Majdi, and baby Amal. Shaima is struggling to support her children since her husband disappeared, and needs urgent help with providing food and resources for them, especially as winter sweeps through Gaza! This family’s fundraising campaign (@familgazaamal1) is completely vetted and I’m trying to use my platforms to raise awareness on their behalf. I’ll be opening my commissions to raise funds for their campaign so keep your eyes peeled! I’ll also post their fundraiser link in my highlights as well! Thanks guys! Let’s do our part to reclaim kindness and uplift each other!

Here's a message from the family:

In Gaza, where conflict looms over daily life, children’s dreams remain a ray of hope. Abdul Rahim, a young boy, dreams of becoming a famous artist, using his drawings to tell the world about the beauty of his homeland. Walid, on the other hand, dreams of playing football in a big stadium, representing his country despite the obstacles around him. Majdi, a cat lover, dreams of becoming a kind person and helping children. Majdi, who dreams of opening an animal shelter to care for animals in Gaza. Even in the midst of war, these children cling to their dreams, believing that one day, despite the difficulties, they will achieve their goals. Their dreams are not only about personal success, but also about shedding light on a world filled with darkness. These dreams symbolize the resilience of Gaza’s children, showing that hope and determination can survive even the most difficult circumstances.

In the heart of the ongoing war, Shaima lives with her four children, constantly struggling with pain and waiting. Her husband, who was once the source of security and happiness, left a long time ago, facing the challenges of war far from them. Every day, Shaima makes earnest efforts to keep life going despite the hardships. She strives to provide food and shelter while trying to instill hope in the hearts of her children, who are still waiting for their father’s return, a father they know little about other than his absence. Her four children, despite their young age, carry great hopes in their hearts. The eldest, who everyone sees as the "little father," dreams of their father returning to embrace them as he did in the past. The youngest, on the other hand, wakes up at night searching for his father's voice, wishing for his return to feel safe again. Shaima's dream is every mother’s dream in this war: for her husband to return safely so they can live together again in peace and security. She dreams of the days when her husband filled their home with joy, and she prays for the end of the war so their family can reunite once more. Yet, amid the destruction and tears, hope remains their strength. Shaima knows that her patience and resilience are what keep the family going. Despite the difficult days, she continues to resist, dreaming of the moment when her family will be whole again, with her husband and the father of her children back home.

Thank you my friend for the help.
