Love your okiyuma art a metric tonne so I'm just mildly curious as to ur take on the Okina having naturally black hair lore.
'Somewhat insecure about being blonde' Okina is pretty funny though.
tysm! If we’re talking canon Okina, ZUN's answer felt almost in character as her, like she 100% would deflect a question about her flaws with a nonsensical answer about her hair (though I think that wasn’t his intention lol)
I almost wish she was designed with black hair in the first place, it looks so nice with her color scheme
As for my version of Okina, the hair thing fits really well with my pre-existing headcanon about her connection to Hata no Kawakatsu. It’s a whole thing but in short she sort of “possessed” him at some point, and then even after she released him, a fragment got stuck in her mind; something like an imprint/a manifestation of his grudge. Even though she mentally supressed that fragment, somehow he still subconsciously messes everything up any time she remakes her body (that is why she has prosthetic arms, legs, and eyes too). Being aware of her preference for black hair, he makes it blond. It can’t be dyed because it doesn’t have the same structure as human hair, and any attempts to alter the color through magic are slowly reversed, to her chagrin
