I made this sweet little red-tailed specter moth furby as a commission for a lovely Instagram follower.

I absolutely adore moths, so this commission was a real pleasure to work on! Their wings are articulated allowing them to be opened and closed 🌙💙

ooh! how did you go about making the articulation? I've been wanting to maybe add wings to some future customs. they look so well put together too!!

Thank you! I used joints for teddy bears in a small size (15mm I think). They're quite easy to use, but it's important to get the placement right before putting the stopper on the back because it's near impossible to remove. I have another moth furby in the works so I'll make a tutorial for the wings soon :)

Yippieeee! I look forward to it

Hi!!! Does anyone know if theres a way to separate the faceplate so that I can paint him neatly? Im not sure if its possible with 2012 furbies- pls help 😭

Hi! I have been working on a tutorial for this exact thing! It's done specifically using a boom, but I think most of the process would be pretty similar between the two generations.

I haven't quite finished the second part yet, I'm finishing up painting this custom so that I can put her back together without needing to open her back up after. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out! I haven't done this process on a 12 but I may be able to help anyways :)

Look at this silly little (long) creature! I've wanted either this one or Berry-Cup-Cake for a while now, I just love the colors on this fella and the fact that the back retracts like a measuring tape LMAO.

I sew Gaby's faceplate back on his fur today, after finishing the white and gold paint job on his eyes and beak. But just after that, I broke his speaker by testing his belly detector and HE CAN'T SPEAK ITALIAN ANYMORE!! I say "I buy non functioning furbies cause I just like the fun aesthetic" but no I got attached to the italian furby voice... I'll have to fix that later. Saw some videos with links to small speakers that fit on amazon. I'm really proud of the white eldritch look, I wanted to have him be full pure white, wake up and reveal the gold inner parts and say "Me dormire encora!" before he goes snork-mimi.

The gold is mica powder mixed with mod podge, the beak and eyelids where finely sanded, spray painted white and finished with spray glossy varnish. The eye chips are the og ones, you just take them of and sand the flat face until it's clear, then add whatever you want. Then i used a bunch of sparkly flakes, put them in the eyechip sockets, added resin and pushed with the eyechips. I use UV resin, so I could clean up the excess resin thoroughly before setting in with blue light.

Lookit my sons ain't them pwetty
