In the aftermath of a messy divorce and amidst great pressure from his publishers, blunt and jaded food critic Vincent Moretti visits The Black Orlov, a so-called ‘family owned,’ hole-in-the-wall restaurant specializing in comfort food. While the restaurant has rave reviews, he is underwhelmed, and writes as such in his review. He doesn’t think much of it—just another overhyped restaurant in the heart of the city—and has more important things to worry about, with his eight-year-old daughter’s recent behavioural issues and his publishers breathing down his neck. However, the co-owner of the restaurant takes his review a lot more personally than he’d expected, and Vincent is suddenly thrust into a side of the culinary world he’d never even known existed.
Leo Caruso is a man who takes responsibility for his actions. Getting his best friend pregnant and dropping out of high school wasn’t in his life plans, but he thinks he’s done pretty well for himself and his family. But after a dead-faced, pretentious food critic gives the restaurant a horrible review, things start going wrong, things that are out of his control. He’s angry, hurt, and dead-set on showing that pompous bastard that he couldn’t possibly be more wrong.
the problem with reading and writing leading to a strong vocabulary is that you tend to know the vibe of words instead of their meanings.
if I used this word in a sentence, would it make sense? absolutely. if you asked me what it meant, could I tell you? absolutely not.
figure out what the word means from context clues while reading -> use the word in a sentence while writing -> realise you're not actually certain what the word means -> panic about your sentence not making sense even though it hasn't been pinged as grammatically incorrect -> look up the definition of the word because You Must Know -> it means exactly what you thought it meant -> oh, good! :) -> immediately forget the definition -> repeat forever
possibly controversial take but Laszlo was completely within his right to be angry as he was with Sara. Like, okay hitting people is Wrong and all that, but how it was presented in the show made her seem more like a victim, and given her prying into his disability and the way she treated him over it, she really wasn’t on the right side of that one
