The maiden is a nameless survivor wandering the ruins of the earth in search of many things: food and water to survive, meaning to have a reason to go on, and perhaps something else, something beyond words.

More than human but not quite godly, the personification of War is who the Maiden finds waiting for her in the ruins of a library at the end of the world. Ageless, unrepentant, and impossible to reckon with, she makes no effort to explain the desolation, instead revelling in it and beckoning the Maiden to step deeper into the wreckage.

‘War and the Maiden’ is my comic for this year’s Shortbox Comics Fair!! ⚔️❤️🔥
It’s a 72-page, fully colored comic about the personification of war and a historian meeting in a library at the end of the world.
It’s a contemplative and somber fantasy story, inspired by the ‘death and the maiden’ motif and many other things, that I wanted to write as a meditation on grief and desolation.
I’ll be sharing more sample pages, posters, and talking more about what inspired my comic as the fair comes closer!!
