TLOU PS4 vs PS5 design

Summary: PS4 has a cartoonish style that uses simple, sharp shading. On Joel, this gives him a very defined and similarly sharp look. His eyes look especially interesting with the contrast between the deep shadows and his lighter eye color. The PS5’s realistic shading is amazing, but loses the uniqueness of the style. Joel’s sharp edges are lost in translation. PS4 also has a slightly different face shape than PS5.

Brought to you by a high schooler with no art training, just based off some observations. I don’t know how much of this is super obvious.

I was in the shop with a friend working on refurbishing an axe, and nothing was going our way. The drill was stuck in reverse, meaning we couldn’t clean out the eye of the axe, we were out of WD-40, etc etc. at some point, because he was just starting Part 1 of TLOU, started quoting some of Joel’s lines at me, and at some point ended up screaming “IT IS OVER, TESS. Now we tried, let’s just go home.” And this is now part of our vocabulary.

Here’s how it turned out in the end, btw

It isn’t over, Tess!

Reminder that Ellie slept in a 20 year old theater chair, rawdogging it in skinny jeans with no neck support, then woke up and crossed half of Seattle to kill a quarter of the military, steal a car, crash a car, almost drown, hike back across Seattle, chill for like 2 minutes, go to a hospital ten miles away, get shot on the way, almost drown, kill an entire WLF base, torture a woman to death, hike all the way back in the dead of night, and only them did she go to sleep on an actual bed. Still in those damn skinny jeans btw.

“Why didn’t Joel and Ellis use bikes to cross so much of their journey?” I hear you ask. Have you considered that instead of a bike, Joel was given a native Texas-grown Ford F150 for his seventh birthday and he never learned to ride?
