listen i think it's valid to be upset about the wdc and feel like things didn't go your driver's way but to me it doesn't make sense to act like the sole reason for the outcome was. outright sabotage? formula 1 has so many varied and complex factors that contribute to the result of every race. sometimes that's a dnf caused by another driver. sometimes that's a mechanical dnf or dsq. sometimes it's a bad strategy call. sometimes, it's your driver's fault for qualifying low or making a mistake!
sure, if x y and z races had gone differently, maybe lando wouldn't have been world champion. if he hadn't had a mechanical dnf at zandvoort, the margin would've been larger. if max hadn't driven into george in spain he could've won. if oscar hadn't put it into the wall in baku he might've been closer on lando's tail. if my mom had balls, she would be my dad, guys. circumstance and chance events are a major part of f1!
all this to say, whether or not you think lando is the "worthy" champion, he's the one who won. that's a combination of his good races and good luck and other driver's bad races and bad luck. in another year it might've been different but this year it wasn't. i struggle with the amount of energy some people put into hating him just because of circumstances that didn't favor their driver.
and this isn't to say that i don't think max or oscar could've been a worthy winner!! they just weren't this year. that's how it goes sometimes.
