In Super Mario Odyssey, the Stairface Ogre enemies can break crates with their giant stamps. One of them is necessary to obtain the "Inside a Block in the Castle" Power Moon, which is in a glowing metal crate that the Stairface Ogre must be lured to.

However, the Stairface Ogre is unable to break crates if they are not on screen. While objects not being active while offscreen is a ubiquitous occurrence in 3D games, the notable part of this is that the Stairface Ogre brings down his stamp, but it fails to destroy the crates. Note how after Mario returns in the footage, the enemy raises its stamp to reveal the crates being completely intact underneath.
