Hey not-yet-published writer,

One day your book will be ready. One day you'll be going to a local fair with a bag full of copies and maybe you'll be so nervous you'll feel like laughing and crying at once.

One day you'll be setting up the booth, arranging the books this way and that because looking at the people walking by is just terrifying, and it feels like forever but someone slows down and look at the books and it's so thrilling you can barely greet them.

One day someone's eyes will widen as you explain what the book is about, and they think it's a great idea for a book. More people will stop by, some will just look, some will ask, some will buy the book for themselves or because they think someone is going to love it.

Every sentence you write brings you closer to this day. Every scene you power through even though it makes you wonder if you can really do this, write a whole book. You can. The day is coming.

Being a wirter is like

Me (sends work) *What if my editor hates it? What if there's a HUGE plot hole and she thinks I'm so dumb?*

Editor (texting) "lol that part was really funny, also, I like that you did so and so"

Me *phew*

- a few weeks later -

Editor (email) "here's your work with the corrections and my thoughts on it"

Me *WHAT IF SHE HATED IT AND THERE WAS A HUGE PLOT HOLE AND I'M DUMB*

I will address no-one's concern and clarify that the Muse and I have a great relationship.

As startling as it may seem to humans, yelling is both common and healthy in the communication between bonded muses and creatives, as it provides the latter with the necessary pre-accomplishment bitching at the same time as it makes the former feel secure in their role as a fucking menace.

If you see a creative yelling at their muse, that's a sign that they are thriving!
