an attempt at drawing almost every named character in the silmarillion (minus a bunch of Men characters bc i didnt have designs for them, as well as assorted minor elves like salgant or elenmire + the valar and most maiar cuz im still redesigning them) 😙
been really busy these past months but i worked on this on and off in-between (you can see a process gif here!!). since ive got a bit of free time for now, ill try to get back to being more active :D sorry for disappearing out of the blue again but happy almost half a year... wait wdym we're almost halfway through 2025 already...?!?! a bit late for this but the 8th of january a week ago marked 5 years since my first post here on silmblr! ive been in a lot of fandoms but this is the only one ive (somewhat) continued to make content for :D although ive been terribly inconsistent with how active ive been, it's been a great learning experience all this time receiving such kind feedback and encouragement, as well as also getting to interact with so many lovely people 💓

Hey! I just want to say to you that I really adore your artworks! I find it's incredible how you have so many different designs and ideas for such an amount of characters. You have quite inspired me to draw fanart and comics myself, and I really like to see your process and developement throughover the years. So you have recently updated your family tree (which is really helpful, btw), and I have noticed the absence of Maglor's (noncanonical) children who you have included in your older family trees. I really liked this headcanon of yours (actually I find a lot of you headcanons really interesting and at some points even sensible), and thus I became curious whether you have changed you mind about Maglor, his wife, and their maybe-children? Just wanted to ask, I would totally understand if you changed your mind :)

i was especially shocked when i got your ask because you mentioned some characters i havent thought about in many many years... my tolkien ocs!!! you can imagine my surprise at seeing them in-ask, because im the most guilty of neglecting them. For context, my doodles on Maglor's wife and their hypothetical children can be found here and here. tldr: years ago, i had a what-if where Maglor married a Vanya woman, had many tensions with Feanor bc of it, and his wife only found out she was pregnant (with twins!!) a week before the Noldor exile and didn't follow Maglor on the Journey.
to answer your question, the reason i didnt include Marilde or their children in my recent updated family tree is because i figured she wasn't relevant hahaha. i wasnt content with a lot of things about my first family tree from 2022, where i unintentionally presented some of my HCs as 'fact' which was likely quite confusing!! so i figured that while i could label some of the other noncanon relations accordingly (e.g. rumil to miriel, glorfindel to elenwe, caranthir to haleth), i would just save space by not including maglor's family as it was completely oc-based 🙂↕️
i dont have any particularly strong feelings about Marilde, Lindion and Laurelote since i see them more as concepts than actual characters, so it's not to say that ive changed my mind on them or anything! its a bit confusing to explain but in my mind Maglor always switches between being married, estranged or single, depending on which the narrative calls for more :D however, your very kind words about them inspired me to brush the dust off for a bit, so i started doodling them again bc its been what.... 4 years? 3 years? since i last drew em yippee!
ill drop them here as a sketch dump abt maglor's married life pre/post exile but in continuing with my usual stuff, it might be a while til i next do anything oc-related just bc i alwways feel a bit sheepish abt sharing ocs n stuff

this an unserious answer to the what-if scenario of Maglor reuniting with his wife and children post-War of the Ring :D maybe he did so about a week after returning bc he had to psyche himself up + nerdanel nagged him nonstop... long story short, i cant imagine his family back home would be able to accept him so smoothly, even if they are happy to have him back safe. marilde would probably need to get to know him all over again, and at least one of his kids is fully hell-bent on making it known how much he dislikes him !!

it took way longer than i thought but i decided to redraw this old comic :D it always bugged me in the years since i posted it how awkward some of the pose/panel direction looked (like when maedhros grabs curufin in page 1), plus i wanted to expand a little on the aftermath that i didnt do back then....!!

i think it's been 3 years? since i made my first family tree, but it's always bugged me how messy it was presentation-wise + the possible misinformation caused by the way i didn't clarify that some of the stuff inside was my headcanon. so over my hiatus i decided to remake it haha ^^;; considering how ive made some redesigns in the time since, i think this was rather overdue...!!!

hello!!!! thank you so much for your kind words! first off, it's such high praise to hear that...! i started drawing this stuff mostly out of a silly love for long haired elf dudes, so it's always very humbling to hear that other people enjoy what i make 🙇 i'm really happy you were able to read the Silmarillion!! it's truly a testament to professor tolkien's amazing work that there is a community invested in his work that's been so consistently active and thriving for decades now :D
now on to your question! i do indeed have designs for the valar -- the first renditions i ever did of them when i was a baby silm fan can be found here, but it's from 2021 so it's very outdated and frankly my old art makes me shrivel up a little ahjsdhj 🫣 then in 2023, i did some rough redesigns of them as chibi heads, but for some reason i never got around to posting it ^^;;; it's just been gathering dust in my gallery, but i suppose this is the perfect time to prove they do in fact exist...!
but this was in 2023, so ive had a few changes ive wanted to make in the time since-- i also never formally drew their fullbody designs, so ive been meaning to getting around that sometime this year :D im not sure when but hopefully before december, fingers crossed! since you asked specifically about irmo and nessa, the most i can say for now is that i think i'll keep irmo's design roughly the same from his 2021 version (though maybe with a more detailed outfit?), and nessa will get a total rehaul to follow her 2023 redesign! im so sorry that this is all i have to offer as of now though 😭
the most i have now are some very tentative manwe sketches from january i havent finished since then hahaha.... i have dubbed him 'biblically accurate manwe' ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

a bit of a sketch dump, but ive been meaning to catch up with some doraith-related asks that ive been sent over the past years :D first i should probably clear up any misconceptions abt my version of luthien and daeron 😅 purely due to personal preference, i like daeron's actions in the story being motivated by a more familial love rather than a romantic one (where he's a suitor)... no specific reason why haha, maybe i just wanted more chances to draw pretty maia-elves?
