What if... Doomed by the narrative: Han Yoojin vs Han Yoohyun?
who's more doomed? neither. both. as in, don't separate them, but also.
yoojin had no choice but to love yoohyun and so doomed himself. yoohyun had no choice but to reciprocate that love and so doomed himself. by loving each other they also doomed the other.
because of his nature, han yoohyun would have been "doomed" from the start, although in a different way than he is now. burning up everything, and in the end, himself too— although not an ending anyone else would be happy with, living like that, as was in his nature, he would have died alone and without regrets. but loving and being loved so deeply by han yoojin changed him, until he had no choice because he loved yoojin so much— so he died in a dungeon, before his time should have come, having repressed himself for years, in order to protect yoojin. from himself, as well ^^
and if yoojin had gone against his own nature and rejected yoohyun from the start, like everyone else, he could have lived a normal life with his parents— could have graduated and gotten a normal job, would have lived fine even after the dungeons appeared. since it was his inferiority complex that pushed him to awaken to begin with ^^ he could have lived a very ordinary existence, i think, and wouldn't have ended up rewriting the entire world in order to bring his brother back, starting the story altogether.
because sctir is a love story, it makes sense that being doomed by the narrative is equivalent to being doomed by love ^^ but since the love was there— and since love is the point— i don't think the han brothers are very doomed at all actually 💜💜💜
god damn it @yersina i was just trying to say words recreationally at 2 am why did you have to respond so eloquently. yeah. yeah. yeah. exactly.
for the story to start yoohyun had to die for yoojin. and for yoohyun to die for yoojin he had to love yoojin purely and wholly. and for him to love yoojin purely and wholly yoojin had to love him unconditionally first. and for yoojin to love him unconditionally first the story had to make him like that by nature. and by making him like that by nature the story would eventually start. its a vicious and endless cycle.
yes they had no choice, or "free will"—they had to love each other. how could they not?
yes their prophecy was self-fulfilling—it was set in motion the moment yoojin began to love yoohyun, through his very nature.
yes it turned the world against them, or rather, them against the world—yoojin overwriting time, yoohyun abandoning his own nature.
yes the narrative is against them—thats why yoojin is still looking for 25yh.
their love is the point of the story—and a story has to start and end somewhere. so. for the story to exist they had to love each other. for them to love each other the story had to exist.

good work everyone ^^ and read the s-classed that i raised!!
okay but the worst part (other then the fact that the picture is? not yoohyun??) is that i'm like 90% sure melinoe doesn't even have like a single line of dialouge yet. justice for yoohyunie <3
I KNOW LOL ITS SO SAD...tbh ive made my peace w yoohyunie losing- hes up against a crazy popular franchise, even if the chara herself hasnt been released and has barely any dialogue, not even with her own older sibling ^^;; i was joking earlier that if he'd been up against a franchise that wasnt as well known or anticipated, i mightve been able to cheese him past the first round.. but im pretty satisfied with just being able to get him as many votes as i can ^^ itd be nice if we could reach 30% next!!!
out of nothing more then curiosity, thoughts on jinjae?
i would like to preface this with a disclaimer that i do actually, despite what it might seem, have non-shitpost thoughts about jinjae (touched briefly on their respective relationships with personhood & how their evolving partnership reflects that here, not enough imo but id only been reading for a couple of months at that point so i couldn't speak about shj with an appropriate level of confidence and we only have so much time on this forsaken earth anyways). especially since shj exists as a foil of sorts to yoojin (re:self-love vs "externalized" love, learning to love oneself through the "other", so on and so forth), with their character developments complimenting the other's in return, jinjae occupies a uhhh. lot of my brain all the time and i need to scream and possibly cry about them. unfortunately it is funnier to post about gay divorce.
second disclaimer: i am both 100% joking in the following post and, at the same time, so incredibly dead serious.
jinjae is a lot of things to me. first and foremost jinjae is a guy that hates the other guy so bad they made it everyone else's problem. jinjae is also a guy that likes the other guy so bad they made it everyone else's problem. jinjae is ALSO two guys that are so obsessed with each other it should be in the dsm-v somewhere. jinjae is a yaoi (early canon). jinjae is a yuri (late canon). jinjae has at least one scum gong. jinjae is brat4brat. jinjae is also brat tamer4tamer. jinjae is ALSO brat tamer4brat. yes that is how it works. jinjae is two single fathers meeting and falling in love except they have the same child and are actively getting divorced with plans to be married again in the spring. jinjae is that trope of some guy's kid liking a teacher/other adult authority or caretaker figure in their life so much they try to set their single father up with said caretaker figure, except the caretaker figure is the biological parent of the child and also the child hates the single father so much. jinjae is a sun/moon couple except SIKE. NO IT IS NOT. jinjae are married. jinjae have been divorced 7 times. jinjae are soulmates (pink thread of fate). jinjae is a threesome. jinjae are on a date at the aquarium right now. jin is poisoning jae's dinner and jae is kicking his feet giggling and twirling his hair with hearts in his eyes. okay i need to stop referring to them as jin and jae. jinjae are constantly embroiled in psychological warfare except one side thinks losing will mean forfeiting his life and the other side thinks losing will mean that he won't get to pay for lunch. jinjae have shared a bed and neither of them talk about it. jinjae is deeply homoerotic. like 'lighting your cigarettes with the same flame' homoerotic but even more (there were roses involved). jinjae is doomed. they're perpetuating the cycle. they're [REDACTED, SOUND OF CRYING, CAR CRASHING]. jinjae are making each other worse. jinjae are getting better together. and most importantly jinjae are in love.
i could say more but this ask has been sitting in my mailbox long enough im sorry. i don't actually have any thoughts on jinjae because as soon as i try to think about them The Horrors get me. and also The Love.
edit: i didn't even talk about the "you ghosted me so im going to blow up your house". not much more context is required. insane gay people.
this chapter ^^ v good showcase of yoojin's unconditional/pure love for yoohyun!! esp since it was during the period where yoohyunie wouldn't have reciprocated yoojin's love towards him just yet.
also fun fact about yoohyun: unlike most humans, he can perfectly recall memories of his childhood :) so everything that yoojin's done for him exists clearly in his mind 💜
