fuck the grind. fuck work culture. i want a slow life. i want to wake up in the morning and scramble eggs and saute some spinach, squeeze some orange juice and cut up some strawberries, and eat it all while sitting on my porch and watching my goats mill about in the yard. i have a world of downtime to bake bread and garden and read and craft. i am free.

i love and support trans people! having this on your blog means you love and support trans people too!

[guy whose bedtime is approaching fast] I need to write one billion words right now. and draw everything that has ever existed.

"Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I'm sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor: Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But that’s not the only thing that’s going on:

  • ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
  • ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, that’s because it is.
  • ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because it’s unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
  • They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks aren’t getting their cancer care, etc.
  • They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
  • ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americans—again, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
  • They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.) I can’t emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone that’s not white. It doesn’t matter if you’re a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later. But the community is fighting back.
  • Protests are happening every day.
  • Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
  • Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
  • Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
  • Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, I’m standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
  • Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
  • Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
  • Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers don’t have to take the risk of coming to work.
  • Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who don’t feel safe leaving home.
  • Mutual aid money is going out to folks who can’t make rent because they can’t work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their home’s windows were smashed. THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and it’s horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, don’t think for a minute that this won’t happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Don’t let us get to the last line of Martin Niemoller’s poem.” -Grant Boulanger

I was having writers block and so I took a break and soon enough it was 3 in the morning and I had impulsively sewn together a tiny mouse you’re welcome

I see people reblogging this with “to buy” but this pattern is free??? Someone even asked me “why don’t you charge money for it, it took you forever to put the document together” and I said “Not a lot of people have money and if they have some fabric scraps and a couple of buttons lying around they can make themselves a little mouse friend for free and that might make them happy and that makes me happier than receiving money???” Make yourself a liddol creacher! Heals the Soul!

I know this post is like 7 years old atp but I still get hundreds of notifications a week on it as well as some emails having problems with access, so I’d like to update since many haven’t seen my addition in the replies.

This pattern took off WAY more than I was expecting. Tumblr is the only place I’ve ever posted it, so if you see a repost on any other website, I’m not OP. Apparently some people have downloaded the pattern and put it behind paywalls on skill share sites. If someone wants you to pay money for the pattern, just know it’s not going to me, so it’s up to you whether or not you pay them because as always, the original pattern is still free.

However if you would like to donate to me, you can do so here :)

Also the pattern link access is public! It’s shared via the Google Drive link underlined above and you don’t need to have a google account to open it. If you get a message saying you need “permission to access”:

  • Most of the time it seems to be connected to those trying to access Peaches via a school or workplace. Be sure you are not accessing the document while logged into a google account with an email address connected to a school or business and avoid accessing the pattern on school wifi and computers, employee-only wifi and computers, or another controlled networks, as these may use firewalls and other content blocks which may prevent the document from opening “without permission”
  • Be sure you are accessing the pattern using a web browser that supports the opening of Google Drive
  • If you have several tabs open that are logged into google, be sure they are all logged into only one google account. Sometimes if you have other tabs open logged into different google accounts, Drive will insist you need to request permission to access

That being said, I’m really impressed to see everyone’s creations and am so glad Peaches has reached so far! As we all know, Tumblr is notorious for not working right so I don’t always see every single message or photo addition, but just know I’m glad this little craft brought so many of you a little bit of joy over the years if you’ve ever made one!

Later tonight at around 10 PM EST, Art Prompt will return after it's extended hiatus! Hope to see you then!

Another thing about light pollution and adjacent things is. They threatened my area with rolling blackouts last winter. Now this was of course largely because the AI datacenters are hogging all the electricity, but in the notifications about it they always specified that that residential areas would be the blacked out areas. Not offices. Not businesses. If you're at home and freezing, well, you can just go loiter in a McDonald's I guess. Never mind that this is extremely difficult for disabled people and often not allowed for pets.

Well, as winter turned into spring, I started biking home from work. A long, circuitous route that took me through residential areas, and past offices and businesses. Offices and businesses that were closed for the day. And yet their signs were still lit up. The lights were still on inside. There were TVs playing in empty breakrooms. All the computers in the school district offices stayed on, their monitors not even going to sleep, all night. Paused to take a break in an empty strip mall once and when I leaned against the glass of a restaurant I could hear the music still playing inside.

Like. There's something deeply rotten about the priorities here. These places that are so flagrantly wasting electricity will never be subject to the rolling blackouts that could freeze you out of your home. Not even at night, when no one is there, when they don't need their lights on. Their waste is prioritized over normal people's life.

Reminds me of a summer or two ago in NYC when they were expecting heat waves and warning residents to brace for blackouts. Sometimes the infrastructure really cant handle the traffic (although even then there are usually some capitalists to blame, like with much of Texas's energy grid in disrepair), but companies and governments won't turn off the billboards in Times Square (or the lights in some random office that's been vacant for a week) for the greater good. The slightest chance of a business missing out on projected profits (including a fear of possible theft during community crisis) is treated as more important than everyday people getting adequate shelter from the elements.

The inaccuracies incited by anthropomorphic descriptions are likely to have a disproportionate impact on vulnerable populations. A 2025 article shows a negative correlation between people’s “AI” literacy and their “AI” receptivity; the more people know about how “AI” works, the less likely they are to want to use it: “people with lower AI literacy are more likely to perceive AI as magical and experience feelings of awe in the face of AI’s execution of tasks that seem to require uniquely human attributes.”Somewhat absurdly, the authors use this finding as an argument against educating the public about “AI”, as this would consequently reduce their adaptivity. We believe that language is a device to increase people’s “AI” literacy, helping them make informed choices about technology acceptance.

Emily M. Bender and Nanna Inie, We Need to Talk About How We Talk About 'AI'

The discussions around the murder of Renee Good are such a clear case study for the need for intersectional frameworks. There are lots of claims that she is the “first US citizen killed by ICE” which not only is not true, she is not even the first of 2026. There is both a massive erasure of the victims before her, and an erasure of Renee’s own identity and connections that made her a more acceptable target for both murder and smearing.

Everyone MUST contend with:

1. US citizens are falsely labeled as non-citizens or had their citizenship “stripped” and are deported and then sometimes killed elsewhere

2. US citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), are “deported” to places they have never lived and are at the mercy of new countries, sometimes those that will kill them or imprison them again

3. Lawful Permanent Residents are killed in custody

4. US citizens are disappeared from their homes and record of them is lost

5. Native Americans born and raised on these lands with US documents are placed into legal limbo and killed and imprisoned and sometimes deported to places they have never visited let alone lived in

6. US citizens killed on US soil or abroad taking peaceful action against an armed oppressor if not attacked going about their days, are routinely distanced from their citizenship, when it serves the narrative

Palestine: (Saif Musallet, 20; Tawfic Abdel Jabbar, 17, Mohammad Alkhdour, 17; Aysenur Eygi, 26; Amer Rabee, 14)

7. Renee was a queer woman with a masc wife and her identity is being used as justification for her murder and proof of her “corruption” when it isnt completely omitted outright

8. Renee’s wife’s identity and attitude is also being used to justify Renee’s murder

9. Renee was politically vocal and is being held up as proof of “left-wing extremism”

10. Renee is being labeled a domestic terrorist using language, ordinances, and memos that have been coming out for a long while

Renee is the latest in a long line of murders and violence that will continue on, and it is crucial to understand that no this is not new, yes it is just as important to care about nonwhite citizens and non-citizens of all races, yes your legal status and loyalty will be called into question once you are dead and it helps no one to make excuses for why the murder is legal, yes “it could happen to (you)” but understand why it hasn’t—what makes you different—and as the differences get smaller and smaller, recognize when is the time to do something about it
