I haven’t been on this app in a while, but I know a Black man, Keith Porter, was murdered by ICE on New Year’s Eve (Rest in Power) in Cali. Just one of the countless Black people who’ve been murdered by ICE and other agents of the state.

I log back into this app and see the conversations around the white woman, Renee Good, who was just recently killed. And I can’t help but notice the stark difference in circulation of news and boosting of stories between both of them across this app…

Shit has BEEN happening to Black people across administrations and is currently happening to Black people under this administration, and is met by crickets. Yet when it starts touching white people, I see real anger start being felt from the gen pop followed by amplification and co-opting of Black terms and memorialization… I stg it takes everything in me to give af about yall.

My child, who spends their entire life being transfered from home to car to school and back, and is not allowed to leave the house or talk to anyone and can only in their wildest dreams imagine a life free from constant surveillance, is very sad. Obviously they're dumb and lazy, like all kids these days.

kind of a tangent but i recently went to a bowling alley with my friend i'm 19 he's 18 and the woman at the door didn't want to let us in because there was a sign saying under-18s needed adult supervision. everything got cleared up and we were able to go bowl, but i'm still so mad about the fact that kids need adult supervision to go to a bowling alley and arcade. like okay maybe young kids should have supervision but what do you mean middle and high schoolers need to hold mommy's hand while they play video games. kids aren't just addicted to their phones because phones are addicting, we're addicted to our phones because there's nothing else to fucking do

Once more the reminder: children and minors are a marginalized group. And right now they are one of the few marginalized groups that it is not only legal, but completely normalized in most countries to discriminate again.

Shops and outdoor places banning any other group of people will usually get called out. They might still do it. In some places they might still get away with it. But it sparks at least some controversy. Shops banning kids and minors? No problem. After all kids suck and are annoying and badly behaved, right? Those darn teenagers really should be nowhere seen or heard or... like, could we not like lock them up forever? Preventively. Becuase they will do bad things, and if they don't surely someone will do something bad to them, and we all agree that is bad, because children and teenagers obviously are at once the embodiment of innocence, but also obviously just waiting to do like crimes and shoplift and like, listen to loud music or something when we do not want that.

I feel like people reblogging and spreading this post around are completely missing the original context that this was a vent post and not a general statement. I am schizophrenic. I posted this after remembering a specific time someone actively made an effort to comb through my online profiles and look for reasons to claim I'm "problematic" in order to get me banned from one of the few places i feel safe talking in because they found me mildly annoying and wanted a more valid reason to hate me. I was a minor at the time.

A lot of people are reblogging this without the addition too which frustrates me because I feel like it's really important to bring attention to the specific sort of discrimination schizophrenic people are subject to.

People will see that you're visibly mentally ill, think that you're annoying and actively look for reasons to dislike you, leading to your presence being constantly fucking monitored and judged because everyone's looking for a concrete reason to hate you. That's what this post is about. this is not a general positivity post or a statement. This is an exasperated vent from a schizophrenic person who has been pushed to his fucking brink so many times.

This doesn't just apply to schizophrenia of course- this applies to other schizospec or psychotic disorders, this applies to personality disorders (ESPECIALLY CLUSTER B.) and this spplies to DID and OSDD and other dissociative disorders. Hell this applies to any even remotely stigmatized disorder. I've seen friends with nothing up with them except for mild autism be treated like this solely because someone found them annoying.

My point is that people should really think hard about why you may find these sorts of people annoying. Just really think about if they actually did anything wrong to you other than be annoying.

Ok, because I've already seen posts "identifying" the ICE agent who murdered Renee Good by three completely different names, I think now is the right time to remind everybody that it's generally a bad idea to share rumoured details about a publicly despised anonymous figure until said details have been verified by multiple credible media sources. Because between shoddy internet sleuths, click-baiters, and malicious opportunists, people will put incorrect information out there that can lead to harassment and/or violence against completely uninvolved parties—which is a major irony tbqh, given that "shoot first, ask questions later" is straight up fucking cop logic.

Like, once the scumbag responsible for the shooting has been named by multiple trustworthy media outlets, you can drag his ass through the mud all day long. But until then? DO NOT assume that a name superimposed over a screenshot is legit, because you're way more likely to be piling on some rando with a similar haircut who caught the eye of a wannabe true-cime podcaster with a FB account than you are to be unleashing your wrath on the fucker who actually did the deed.

Updating this to say that multiple credible sources have now identified the agent as Jonathan E. Ross, so you are free to drag his murderous ass to hell.

In an added wrinkle, it turns out that one credible source initially made a mistake in their reporting of his name, which is why I always advise waiting for several sources to confirm (and even then, errors can be made; the death of musician Tom Petty is a famous example of bad circular reporting by credible outlets):

ICE shooting an innocent 37 year old mother attempting to protect her neighbors is not an accident or an act of self defense, it is an act of terror designed to dissuade other people from stepping in, documenting ICE violence and reminding immigrants of their rights. Her son is now an orphan and the president of the United States is calling her a ‘professional agitator’ on social media.

The head of ICE is calling her a violent terrorist and claimed her attempt to back her car away was actually an effort to murder the ICE officers present.

There’s a reason that the Right have all rallied so quickly behind this narrative: it’s happened before, with ICE’s approval.

Renee is the ninth person to have been shot by ICE since last September; and in all of those shootings the victim was in a vehicle and the agents claimed that the vehicle was “a threat”/trying to “run them down.” One other shooting, that of Silverio Villegas Gonzalez, was also lethal.

This is pretty clearly a sanctioned tactic being used by ICE repeatedly with an eye towards using the vehicle-as-weapon excuse later.
