Chapters: 1/1, Words: 2,554, Steve Harrington & Max Mayfield

Steve can’t seem to make himself leave Max’s letter at home. The envelope sits heavily in the front breast pocket of his bomber jacket—he had to fold it, across the middle, to fit, and now he can never quite get it to lie flat, even when he takes it out and smooths it down against the table. He’s taken to wearing the bomber jacket everywhere, even though it probably makes him look like an idiot most of the time, and even though it could really use a good wash. It’s the only jacket he has that ensures the folded envelope stays flat. He doesn’t want to risk any more damage than he’s already done with the everyday wear of his fingers against Max’s scribbled Steve. ~~~ Steve deals with Max being gone, and with the letter she left him.

I hope your headache has abated at least somewhat, btw. Wishing you anti-headache vibes over here (from one chronic headache/migraine sufferer to another). <3

i really appreciate this. i don't really know anyone with my struggle irl so it's nice to feel like i am not the only one (though, you know, also bad. i am sending you all of the anti-headache vibes i can find <3)

nancy friendship with guns is OVER by the way. that was an awful necessity and will absolutely not be a hobby of hers. maybe she'll keep practicing for a couple years, just to be ready, but i hope eventually she can let it go. get into horseback riding or something

s1 jonathan makes me ill btw. i cannot fathom how he is not the most popular character of all time

that quiet, seething face he makes when he knows lonnie is being cruel and wrong but there's nothing he can say or do about it and he is shouldering all of this responsibility and he is just a kid..
