Data chose to be a person. He only mimics humans cause that's what he's around the most. and i think it's something Brent Spiner knew about Data from the start. He wants people to like him, he wants to understand and fit in, but his own personhood was never up for debate in his mind. Why would it be? The first thing he was told when he woke up was that he was a machine, and he couldn't handle the limitations of what that meant. He couldn't be someone who never changed, never grew. He took a leap of faith. He is alone in the universe and alive. He has a name, and a way to pronounce it. He plays violin and writes poetry and has a best friend and made himself look like he was aging so he could fit in. cognito ergo sum. he thinks therefore he is. nobody else could have played him because nobody else has the range. data I love you.

did youuu guys know I like data from star trek πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Remember when Kirk carried the weight of the deaths of 200 men because he thought he could have shot a death cloud to death and saved them if he had reacted faster

And then spock tried keeping said death cloud in a vent by doing this
