One of the biggest issues I have in the Arcane fandom is the way Viktor is so often approached. Specifically, Jayce’s statement that Viktor was so focused on curing his disease.

I so often see it interpreted as Jayce saying ‘it doesn’t matter that you’re dying, wanting a cure is bad!!” But that’s not what he’s saying. Jayce looked at Viktor, who had always been and would always be sick, and said ‘Your illness does not make you any less perfect.’ Jayce was telling Viktor that he could be sick, he could be disabled, and Jayce was still going to love and admire him.

It’s not Jayce loving Viktor despite is illness, it’s Jayce loving Viktor WITH his illness. Jayce would love Viktor healthy, with a cane, with a crutch, in a wheelchair, bedbound. Jayce would love Viktor up and running, he would still love Viktor curled up quiet. He loves Viktor on low pain days and high pain days.

Viktor’s illness didn’t NEED to be cured in Jayce’s eyes, because Viktor was worth it no matter what.

please help a disabled queer and their family save their home

hey y’all 👋

my living and financial situation has become precarious within the last year, to the degree that we haven’t been able to keep up with our mortgage and are now facing the possibility of our house being put on foreclosure. my family and i were previously homeless for six months back in 2023 and our current circumstances, both regarding our ability to keep up with the cost of living in VA and our physical health, are now even worse than back then. i am disabled: i’m currently going through severe chronic health problems that prevent me from working and am also recovering from complex eye surgery, making me wholly dependent on my parents — who are getting up there age-wise and have their own physical issues that impact their ability to hold down a second job, even while working overtime.

a wonderful friend of mine has helped me set up a gofundme and any aid that can be given, even if it’s $5, would be wonderful. there’s no set time limit to donate at the moment, and the goal is $6k, which is the amount we owe that makes up for the last three months of missed accumulated mortgage payments. again, there is no pressure to donate atm, but every dollar counts and any that you can be give will be greatly appreciated!

guys who find eachother in every universe but theyre not lover or enemies or even friends theyre just like. awkward acquaintances. they try to hang out sometimes and discuss the situation but they dont really mesh and dont have much in common so it usually ends up awkward. some guy you know. in every universe.

finally finished a painting i've been cooking in my mind for a few years! shadowgast as The Devil, one of my favorite tarot cards and one of the three cards i associate with their relationship

i'm not much for divination but i love the story-telling aspect of tarot, and one of my favorite visual metaphors of The Devil is how loose the chains around the two figures' necks are. they're not kept bound. it's that possibility to choose that i find so significant, and so fitting for the story of these two wizards. to say you're not defined by your past is to say you're born with all the choices you make; but to say you are forever defined by it is to deny yourself the right to change. the chains around your neck might be very heavy, but the choice to shrug them off is always yours to take.

tip jar!
