Caroline Forbes doesn't seem it, but she is inherently caring to those close to her. It's obvious in small ways : The way she covers Tyler with a jacket and strokes his hair after he shifts, the way she apologizes so profusely to Elena after spying for Katherine, the way she only spied for Katherine because she threatened Matt, the way she cried so hard after she first turned and killed that man at the carnival. She cared when she was *human*, too. It just became easier and more apparent when she became a vampire, because all of those caring qualities? They were heightened, and she grew into them the longer time went on. She's almost *motherly*, if you pay attention. She takes care of those she loves. *Always.* Even if it hurts her in the end.
