Okay I was talking about one of my characters and I'm starting to see a pattern.

It all started with "I'm gonna have him have a lot of friends with the kids of the staff that live in the manor, so much so they all are basically siblings. And then I'm going to make they all being dead from a terrible event by the time the story started so he's the last one, forced to remember all the good times they had."

Then I remember he also was part of another group of friends in his hometown, which also died in said event, but two of them survived, but they haven't spoken in a long time, so he can continue to believe they sort of resent him because their siblings died and he survived in their stead.

Then I decided to get an older character who was a sort of grandpa and reliable figure who was always around and kill them as well so I could both tighten the story as well as make the characters have to adapt to the loss of someone who helped a lot.

And because I am cutting things to make the story tighter, I took a glance at his current group of friends who don't add much to the story and am thinking to myself, "I should kill some of them as well, only 3 of them are actually relevant to the story"

Still, she lacks the sort of speed Midoriya can achieve, she can move from building to building, but he's waaay faster, she won't be able to keep him away for long.
