Introduction

After some encouragement from Christine and much nagging from the Daroga, I have decided to create a blog.

I will be posting my favourite music and inspirations from time to time, to keep me entertained in my home under my Opera House.

Questions are welcome. None about the mask, please.

🕯️ Erik is still very hung up on Christine, although they are friends for now. He is not ready to pursue any other romantic relationship 🕯️

Erik watched silently from the ceiling ledge.

This... persistence is admirable, he thought.

He has already opened his vocal studio... perhaps he could take on another student.

With a flourish of his cloak, a note dropped before the girl.

"What do wish to learn? To sing? To play instrument? Reply to this note and leave it behind the statue on the right.

hello there good sir!! hello. i like you a totally normal amount by the way (lie) but i would kindly request you get out of my head because i just can’t stop thinking of you

Dear anonymous,

I was not aware of my apparent... charms that have seemed to please you.

Be assured that it was never my intention to 'get into your head' in the first place.

Perhaps, you ought to meditate for a calmer state of mind.

Yours faithfully,

Happy Holidays, friend.

I would like to know if you have heard of the new immersive staging of your story called “Masquerade NYC,” your thoughts on it, and if you hope to pay a visit or have already done so?

Avatar

Dear @jedienj,

Yes. News of "Masquerade NYC" have reached Paris.

I have not paid a visit yet. I might.

Unlike previous casts, hopefully they have chosen someone adequate to play the role of myself.

If they did not, I am certain they wouldn't appreciate something going terribly wrong, would they?

Yours faithfully,

Opera Ghost

“Hello my Angel, are you doing well today? i’ve been doing my lessons! maybe you can help me understand some of the words since it’s in Italian?”

Erik looked at his pupil and smiled. She has indeed come a long way, from having an unsteady singing core to currently exporing difficult Italian repertoire.

Still, she has much to learn.

"I shall gift you an Italian dictionary", he said, "I trust that you can translate this adequately, given your current skills. This shall be your homework."

Hello!

Its nice to meet you! I like listening to music but I struggle understanding music sheets and the teachers ive had just gave up, so I think I should just stick to listening for now but if you have advice on how to translate the notes into actual sounds im open to then. You have a very nice voice I think! Do you have a favorite instrument?

Sincerely A.B. (who might be a little over-eager)

Dear A.B.,

What instrument do you play? Or do you sing? The advice I give may vary slightly depending.

My advice is to start small. Just two bars, or just a phrase is a good place to start. Slowly expand these sections when they feel comfortable.

Next, it is a good idea to separate the rhythm from the notes first. Maybe clap out the rhythm you see and internalise that before looking at the notes. If you play an instrument, perhaps you could work on each hand separately first. Looking for patterns, such as repeated figures may help.

This may be trickier, but you may try to read one or two notes ahead while playing, which helps you anticipate and prepare the next note.

Lastly, stay patient and play at a slow tempo, any tempo that you can manage. Remember, consistency is key. It is much better to play slower and accurately, rather than faster and full of mistakes.

And thank you, I am quite fond of my voice as well, although some improvement can definitely be made. My favourite instruments are the piano, organ, and violin.

Yours faithfully,

Opera Ghost

Maggie was singing “Rusting Tin Man” to herself while dancing ballet till she noticed Erik and smiled as Erik left her the rose, the same rose she had in the past and sighed before she heard him calling her so she called back “Erik, Is it you? Please answer my call!”

"Maggie, is this a new song I hear? Would you be interested in learning it?" asked Erik from behind the walls.

"I have no objection to it, although you ought to learn it properly."

A note was dropped on the floor in front of Maggie:

Meet me this evening in the dressing room, don't be late. I expect punctuality from my students.

a carrot gets thrown at you, from somewhere

It was a normal day.

Erik was experimenting at the piano, penning down his ideas occasionally.

Ayesha purred and slept at his feet, while a fresh pot of tea was being brewed on the side table.

All was well.

THWACK

"What on earth...?" muttered Erik as he rubbed the sore spot on the back of his head.

He looked around. After his recent renovation, it was near impossible for any object to hit him from the ceiling!

On the floor, a little away from the piano bench, stood the offending projectile.

A carrot.

Anonymous asked:

Opinions on your least favourite ballets, please.

Dear anonymous,

My least favourite ballet thus far is the Rite of Spring by Stravinsky.

It was inspired by pagan Russian folktales and depicts various rituals of a tribe celebrating the advent of spring, before a young girl is chosen as a sacrifice to the Gods and dances herself to death.

The premiere at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées caused a riot. The audience was shouting, protesting and even fighting due to the ballet's shocking and unconventional elements, including its jarring music, primitive themes, and choreography that was a stark departure from traditional ballet.

Although I respect Stravinsky's boldness to stage such a modern work, it is simply not my style.

Anonymous asked:

dear phantom.

I have heard so much of you! Your music, tastes of literature, and even your… more morbid endeavors. Anyways I was wondering what your opinion is on the song Archange?

Sincerely and dearly

I appreciate your attention to my tastes in art, as well as my endeavours.

Archange is an interesting Multi-Genre piece. It begins with a medieval-inspired religious chant, then transitions to a maximalised, dramatic full orchestra sound of a Wagnerian-like effect... fusing these two genres.

I don't quite know what to think of it, although I approve of the emotions it convey. Thank you for this recommendation.

Yours faithfully,

Opera Ghost
