I think that Kylan is a prophet-like figure for the resistance.
In Flames of TDC, he accurately predicted the sequence in which the seven clans would unite against the Skeksis, which would be an impressive feat by itself if it wasn’t also for the Wall of Destiny. The World of TDC states that Gelfling sat upon the Hills (near Stone-In-The-Wood) and Thra gifted them with visions of the future, thus the Wall of Destiny was created. I greatly believe that Kylan would be among those at the Hills for Thra to whisper to, and it would be his song played on his magic firca that etches the prophecy onto the Wall.
And while the YA novels don't hold much canon weight in most things, I do think Kylan's large role in them implies much greater things ahead for him in future canon developments.

On a week’s leave from the Guard, Rian returns to Stone-In-The-Wood to find a strange Grottan girl pleading to see Maudra Fara so she can rescue her Podling friend from the rascal hole. Inspired by her determination, Rian helps her see his Maudra and free her friend.
Having found an ally in this foreign town, Deet remains by Rian’s side for the rest of the week, quickly making friends with him. They learn things once thought impossible of their world from one another. On the morning of Rian’s departure, dressed once again in his uniform, he must bid his farewell to Deet.
Reluctance to part like this is a new feeling to them both.
