Imagine depicting yourself as the volturi, the totalitarian governing body of vampires in twilight who literally killed babies for being born with the wrong blood to show others you feel morally superior for being right about the rise of fascism.

And then imagine that you get angry when another person points out that means we've entered the stage of fascism where it is open fascism.

It means we've entered the radicalization or entropy phase, where not even those who recognize fascism early can effectively have solidarity with others because they've now made their own morally superior in group.

To the point where the in-group is now showing signs of being blind to depictions of fascism and aligning their feelings with those depictions.

How it feels to be the Shrillest of Resistance Libs

If being right about the fascists makes you FEEL more superior, I've got bad news for you about fascists...

And what news would that be?

That you were right about fascism, putting you immediately in the class of people who are an imminent target for fascists.

Feeling superior to them while also being right about them means we are in the stage of fascism that is open enough to recognize you were right.

It means we are at the point where people like us start to go missing because we are at the point where the people who are correct about fascism need to be silenced in order for it to continue.

Glad I could bring you the bad news.

Thank you for plugging my 100% upcycled plushies that I hand craft.

What does that have to do with the rise of fascism?

Edit: Were you perhaps using it to try and silence me by insinuating that I'm not against fascism enough because I partake in capitalism to survive as a disabled individual? GOSH, I wonder what I was referring to when I meant that the moral superiority you feel is probably a bad thing.

It might even make you less effective at banding together to fight fascism because you are too focused on being morally superior to the others around you to even see when someone is on your side.

β€œIt’s funny,” I told Flewin.Β β€œWe have an old Nintendo Game Boy floating around the house, and Tetris is the only game we own. My wife will sometimes dig it out to play on airplanes and long car rides. She’s weirdly good at it. She can get 500 or 600 lines, no problem.”

What Flewin said next I will never forget.

β€œOh, my!”

/end id]

TL;DR on the article

The husband was writing an article on classic video game records, was surprised to find out that holding the Tetris record is a bit of a big deal, and mentions how good his wife is at it.

The guy he’s talking to mentions that the record is 327, way lower than his wifes usual scores of 500-600.

They travel to a tournament, and she goes to do her attempt. Just after she beats 327, and is climbing higher, a judge brings up to the husband that the specific version she’s playing actually has a different record of 545.

She overhears that she needs to beat 500-something, and keeps going, setting the record at 841.

which, they later find out, is her second-best record

There was a decent but ultimately forgettable fantasy novel I read a long time ago that had a single moment that stuck with me.

The protagonist has just won the world famous sword fighting competition in the big, rich capital and is talking to his mentor, and says something about being the best swordsman in the world. The mentor frowns and tells him that no, he isn't. He is the best swordsman out of the people that could afford to show up to this tournament. There could be a mercenary way out in the mountains, patrolling a snow encrusted fort's walls that could kick his ass and there was no way to know until he was already losing to the guy.

I think about that a lot, and how for every apparently dominant competitor, there might be a fucking ronin out there somewhere capable of destroying them.

Always reblog tetris ronin lady

Just think of all the Olympic level ultra marathon runners or shotput throwers who are running letters from village to village somewhere or throwing sandbags to defend against floods because they weren't groomed with wealth to go to the Olympics.

All the champion pole vaulters who just use sticks to get across rivers with ease instead of sleeping at the Olympic villageβ€”

All the sprinters faster than Usain Bolt that are running from a hippo somewhere.

genuinely criminal that bo burnham based so much comedy around "ha ha everyone thinks I'm gay, everyone thinks I'm some sort of gay ass twink" back in the day because I feel like that man has the most heterosexual vibe I've ever seen on any person living or dead

Fun fact, I'm his age and grew up where he grew up.

His comedy isn't based around that, it was commentary on it.

He lived in a world that called men who sang gay, that taught him that loving music and theatre was a gay thing, and had a family that was constantly worried about gayness because that's what families in that area at those times didβ€”

Imagine not understanding comedic commentary and the irony of a straight man joking about how people joked about him being gay because of other people's direct homophobia.

"Ha ha, they think I'm a little gay twink because I like to sing" is literally just what happened and he makes comedic commentary on it because it's trauma.

That's what comedians do, take that dark history and put it into jokes.

I think it's criminal that comedy is so well defined and understood, but some of you still don't get the basics while consuming it.

It's super clear when people have consumed his comedy in sanitized and published form 20 years later.

For reference, THIS is what you are referring to, and if you don't feel the sadness that is underlying this comedy and this coping with the stringent toxic confines of what traditional masculinity demands, maybe you lucked out and simply don't relate to a kid in his bedroom who loves music and wants to be a regular straight guy without his sexual identity constantly being questioned by everyone he has ever known.

Just give people proper prenatal care you cheap ass, racist fucks.

This is a ploy to give money to corn product companies and not actually help people avoid birth defects their kids.

We know that because you can get every pregnant person prenatal care with the money that manufacturers are going to be charging for the extra folic acid they have to source and put in the fucking tortillas.

Anonymous asked:

When I was hospitalized psychiatrically, I had severe symptoms that were dismissed as psychosomatic despite being confirmed by many medical exams. Needless to say, my health is fucked now.

It's a genuine position of danger associated with having been psychiatrized that people will now automatically assume that any physical symptom you complain about must be happening entirely in your head, BEFORE any proper testing or examination has actually taken place. And this assumption literally ruins lives and kills people on a regular basis, as no mental illness has ever made anyone immune to also developing serious physical health issues.

Doctors left a giant cyst in my face for six years.

I even developed dissociative symptoms during this time due to the infection that mysteriously disappeared once the pressure was taken off my brain.

It left me with POTS and Arthritis.

I had to find it through private imaging and take it out through private surgery.

I will never get justice for the neglect, and after purchasing my medical file, I found out an unrelated mental illness was at the top of my list of diagnoses, a list that didn't include some important physical ones, even.

I read that doctors were embarrassed to order me imaging that would confirm things like my arthritis, and they lied... They ALL lie, pretty regularly, including in paperwork.

I'm terrified of doctors because there is no system of accountability that I can go through in order to get justice without being rich, and they know that.

"insert snarky, hyperbolic quote that paraphrases a unique experience of hate speech toward a specific demographic"

Contradictive discourse disavowing said hate speech here, and claiming an entire group of people are a monolith supporting it.

Now a line that lets on that the poster shows hate speech for the opposing demographic by assuming they are the one supporting prior paraphrased ideology.

If men could decide on what international men's day is about and celebrate it widely, we might actually be able to have a Google doodle.

Imagine most upper management, including at Google, being men and not caring about international men's day.

Imagine most politicians, companies with advertising budgets with management and authority figures who can make that decision being men and not.

When you make it seem like women get everything and men get nothing, it's malicious when it is self-imposed.

Men don't celebrate international men's day, and therefore, no one celebrates international men's day, take it in for just one moment and breathe before blaming it on women in any way.

Masculinity is a human fabricated social construct, and of course companies like google don't want men dealing with the actual issues such as men's mental health and uncoupling gender from labour roles.

International days are not about celebration, they are about awareness, and we know what will happen to capitalist enterprises if men start caring for their mental health by having proper work life balances as well as uncoupling their value from what labour they can provide.

It is not women who are doing this.
