feller probably in his 60s came in today asking if a quartz specimen he bought somewhere else was genuine/if he got ripped off on the price. it was a point of a decent size. it had some iron inclusions, little imperfections, no bubbles present, and it scratched the glass plate. even had an uneven base from being removed from a cluster. so i was like, yeah, i can say with some confidence this is real. quartz really isn't worth faking for the most part bc of how abundant it is, and if you end up with a glass piece the giveaway is usually that it's too perfect or it has bubbles. and he paid like $30 for it, that's about what i would sell it for.

went over the tests with him, told him all that, and then he asked to speak to a male employee.
