May misunderstand meaning/tone through text

This blog is mainly about fat liberation.

Important tags to filter are "tw eating disorders," "It's okay to eat food," and "fatphobe logic" if you are triggered by any talk of disordered eating, pictures of food, or want to see less of my responses to fatphobes.

If you want to donate to this blog and help support my master's degree in policy that I hope to someday use to improve legislation for fat people, you can donate to my Ko-fi here.

Please note that I have very bad executive dysfunction that makes it severely difficult to answer asks and messages (I have over 200 messages piled up from the past year as I write this). Not receiving a response immediately is solely due to my energy levels and how easy your ask/message is to reply to.

I block a ton of people due to my mental disorders that are easily triggered by many people's urls, blog bios, and profile pictures. If you follow or interact with me, there is a not low likelihood that I might block you, but I do not mean any ill will. If I blocked you, you're welcome to send me a message from a different blog to ask to be unblocked and I might do so.

People with eating disorders who are in recovery, have already recovered, or do not support the glorification of eating disorders are allowed to follow this blog. If you are a thinspo blog or look at thinspo, you will be blocked and reported. My blog is not your starvation hate porn.

People who aren't fat are allowed to follow and interact with this blog as long as you are not doing so for malicious purposes.

DNIs don't usually help much, but please leave me alone if you are a disability exclusionist, transandrophobe (we support transmascs here), any other flavor of exclusionist, fat fetishist, porn blog, thinspo blog, TERF, radical feminist, or support oppression/social hierarchies in any form. If you put one part of a marginalized group on top of everyone else, please leave me alone and respect my boundaries.

I think we need to start accepting that queer identities absolutely can be caused by trauma, which does not invalidate that person's identity.

At least half of why I identify as a nonbinary woman is because of enduring over two decades of a fatphobic society that ingrained in me that I don't count as a "real woman" unless I'm thin.

I'm on the aroace spectrum, which is likely due to the emotional incest I suffered by my mom for even longer. Her abuse also caused me to develop numerous disorders, which affect my understanding, enjoyment of, and ability to have sexual/romantic relationships with people.

None of that means my identities are bad or invalid. My identities are no more in need of fixing than anyone else's. My identities being affected by trauma do not invalidate your identities either, nor mean that every/most queer people are queer due to trauma.

It's important to stop countering this stigma with denials of people's experiences and instead just not allow the stigma any ground. Someone's identity is due to or affected by their trauma? Okay then, how does a community that understands their feelings hinder that person or make their feelings any less real?

My existence is not an asterisk on your labels

This person completely ignored the oppression of mentally disabled people by using an ableist slur, ignored the entire point of what I said in the post, is whining to me themself yet calls anybody they disagree with "whining," and centers their own feelings above any critical thinking that goes beyond their bias and hatred. The self projection and hypocrisy is amazing. Being miserable doesn't give you the right to hate and harass people you make assumptions about. You don't know my life experiences or the life experiences of other American gen Z at all, buddy. And as soon as you used a blatant ableist slur while complaining that you believe American gen Z doesn't think about the oppression of other people enough, any argument you thought you had was instantly destroyed. I hope you become a better person someday. I'm proud to have you blocked ✌️

Ah yes, the person with the fat kid joke for a url, please yell at me about what you think ethics are. Go off, king

it’s funny because … theyre all from the same country lol

like of course you’re not scared of ww3 happening. your country started it , provided the guns, the tanks, the bombs and then you sit back and once it’s over you make a movie about a soldier who sniped 79073 children who had depression or some form of guilt

like duh, of course you’re going to disengage from the reality other people are going to have to try and survive. Ask “gen Zs” from Palestine or Iran if they find it funny or if they’re not scared.

“this generation is not serious at all” no, you guys live in a false reality where you can completely ignore the fact that you only have the life that you have because your country robbed certain countries blind and now when there’s the very real threat of a war, you can say it with your whole chest that you just do not care

The op of this post and all of the people reblogging this post need to get a fucking grip and stop with the oppression olympics. The self-projection is incredible. It's also clear that you're basing your entire view on assumptions, biases, and stereotypes. You assume that an American teenager must not care about anything and have a perfect, privileged life. I wish I lived in the imaginary scenario you've concocted about what the lives of youth in the US must be.

Kids, teenagers, 20 year olds, all of us were born into a room on fire and are trying to desperately put out the fire while not committing suicide, meanwhile the older generations are buying more gasoline, and we can't stop them no matter how much we try and plead. Let a 20 year old make a funny video about the absurdity of this world to help them cope with the impending doom. Fucking jeez. Your hatred and anger are not an excuse to harass whoever you believe should be the target of your abuse that day.

This post is literally just: "HOW DARE YOU BE BORN IN A SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION AND BE YOUNG AND NOT DIE ON A CROSS IN FRONT OF ME FOR DARING TO EXIST IN A WORLD WITH HISTORY YOU WEREN'T ALIVE FOR!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU NOT CRY IN FRONT OF ME AND VISIBLY SHOW ME YOU'RE MISERABLE LIKE I AM!!!! HOW DARE YOUR EVERY WAKING MOMENT NOT BE AN APOLOGY FOR YOUR SINS! YOU MAKE A JOKING VIDEO TO COPE WITH THE STATE OF THE WORLD?! THE WORLD IS YOUR FAULT, YOU 17 YEAR OLD WHO ISN'T EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO VOTE!!!!!!! FUCK YOU!!!!!!!! YOU BETTER TELL ME YOU WANT TO DIE RIGHT NOW OR ELSE I'M GOING TO SEND A HARASSMENT CAMPAIGN AFTER YOU! I'M MISERABLE AND GOING TO TAKE OUT MY MISERY ON STRANGERS I CAN PRETEND ARE ACCEPTABLE TARGETS AND GET AWAY WITH HARASSING!!"

We still have a few hours left for the Irish reunification of 2025

(This person meant to say low on test scores and high in the other areas BTW)

I dont know why, it's not a NEW thing I've seen but like people thinking that my existence is as bad as dead babies and COVID deaths just really gets me down. Like intellectually I know they dont know what they imply- but once you realize what's actually being said with this kind of statement its horrifying.

We deserve better than this. Being considered a negative for existing.

-mod squirrel

Cyberstalking but it's righteous this time because they were a bad person at one point and because of that they can never change because some people are just evil and are doomed to Hell and need to repent for their sins need to be held accountable for the rest of their lives. You wouldn't want to be a bad Christian leftist would you? Come on now. Screenshot and archive everything this person says. They did bad things in the past so they are a designated Bad Person forever. People cannot change and only Jesus can forgive you for what you've done designated Bad People are just going to keep doing bad things because they are not christlike so you need to be aware of them :)

is it a "womans space" or is it a reproductive health clinic?

is it a "womans space" or is it a domestic violence shelter?

is it a "womans space" or is it a queer pride event?

is it a "womans space" or do you just exclude people who arent women from spaces that they belong in because you think people who arent women are "evil"?

You ever notice how the fat kid is always the bully in media when in real life it's the complete opposite?

Being fat is literally the number one reason why children are bullied. More than any other category, which includes race, sexual orientation, disability, religion, and academic ability. Yet it’s always fat people who are demonized and portrayed as the bullies in media.

Me: *makes a post about the deadly oppression fat people face*

Every person who has ever been said something mean to by a fat person in the past twenty years:

I wanted to answer this ask, and thank you to @desasterdan for bringing up some examples as well! Here’s a picture I found when I searched for pictures of cartoon bullies online:

Literally four out of five of these are fat. All of them are “big” in some way. Then you have characters like Harold and “Big Patty” from Hey Arnold. “Big Patty” literally has the word “big” in her name.

You have one of the three bullies from The Proud Family

Pete from Mickey Mouse

There’s also characters from movies

JK Rowling literally ties evilness to fatness with Dudley, Vernon, the fat aunt who gets blown up, Crab, Goyle, Mrs. Umbridge, you name it.

Now you might be sitting to yourself and thinking “Okay, but that’s only like...sixteen people! I can think of skinny bullies from media too!” But you have to think to yourself:

Where is the other fat representation?

Because not only are fat people so often portrayed as bullies, villains, unlikeable, undesirable, ugly, etc., that is often the ONLY representation for fat people in any given piece of media. (And keep in mind that the list of characters I’ve given is really just bullies, not fat villains as a whole, which makes an even more enormous list).

Tell me where a nice, positive fat character exists in Hey Arnold. In The Fairly OddParents. In The Simpsons. In South Park. In Phineas and Ferb. In The Proud Family. In Megamind. In Mickey Mouse. In Harry Potter. Name five in each because there are certainly dozens upon dozens of skinny characters in all of these pieces of media, so coming up with five non-fatphobic/non-villains who are fat should be easy, right? Tell me where the fat representation is AT ALL in these shows besides the bullies.

I will tell you right now: It’s none for the vast majority of these shows. I guess Harry Potter have Hagrid and Ron’s mom? But like...that’s two characters out of a series that has at least fifty characters. And they don’t outnumber the fat villains/bullies at all. They certainly didn’t put any fat extras in any of the movie’s scenes. It’s skinny people all the way down unless you want a villain, bully, someone to mock, or someone known for being big so you have no choice but to make them fat.

So if every piece of media either has fat bullies or no fat people at all, what message are we sending here?

As an added bonus, here are some images I found when I searched for bullies on Google Images. Keep in mind that I did not write “fat” anywhere in the search bar. This is just what it gave me, one of these pictures even being titled “bully with a fat belly.”

This is exactly what we mean by the name of our blog! This touches largely on TV, but the same is true for so much media. Fatness is used as a shortcut for "bad".

Do you remember Cupcake from Rise of the Guardians?

I actually loved this character, I loved what they did with her. At the beginning the other kids were afraid of her, as if she were a violent bully, but then she was shown playing and having fun with them! She was a normal kid who liked unicorns!

And at the end she joins the other kids and helps save the day. It's a nice little subversion... but that's just it, it's intentionally a subversion. That's how commonplace this is. When picking traits to mislead us into thinking this girl would be a bully, "fat" was on the list - and it worked, because as an audience we're so used to "fat kid" being code for "bully."

Notice how the rest of the kids are thin

The irony of people who support these depictions claiming themselves to be against "bullying" and discrimination while actively bullying and oppressing the children who are already targeted and harmed the most.

You guys, I can't. I thought I had seen it all.

They did this bigoted trope with characters that are goddamn VEGETABLES!

VEGETABLES!!!!!!!!

WHY DO WE HATE FAT PEOPLE SO FUCKING MUCH?!

following tme bloggers of color for information, resources, and their theories on race politics only for them to be transmisogynistic is so so miserable

Are they actually transmisogynistic or just a trans masc person—oh excuse me—tme blogger who asked to be included in the trans community for once and to have their own oppression acknowledged too sometimes? Because people like you tend to get the two confused a lot

It's 2025. In the US, there are no abortion protections and we let women die in hospital parking lots who need them. Trad wife culture thriving. "Quiet Piggy" becomes appropriate commentary to female reporters. Women's participation in the workforce backsliding to 80's levels. Girls blamed for the "male loneliness epidemic." Female dominant fields in the dept of Ed being declassified as professional. Pregnant mothers taking Tylenol nonsensically blamed for autism rates. Bathroom laws policing who is woman enough to safely pee. GLP1s being crammed down our throats and thin ideal culture returning to early 00 norms. Tech companies making wearable tech to track your spouse's every move. Pink jobs blue jobs bullshit chatter. Sexual harassment complaints in the workplace surging but legal protections rolled back. Programs/funding/subsidies for low-income families (more likely to be headed by women) for food, healthcare, etc., slashed and burned.

But noooOoOOo there's no coordinated campaign of misogyny afoot.

1. "Returning to early 00 norms" Those norms never left. Fatphobia has worsened over time, not gotten better. "Body positivity" was taken over by thin people and corporations until it was watered down to the point of being meaningless. Fat people still don't have a mainstream activism movement. We're still fighting to even get "progressive" people to give a fuck about fatphobia and stop sending death threats like "kys land whale" to random fat people online. Where have you been?

2. Why does fatphobia only matter in the terms of how fatphobia contributes to sexism? Why is fatphobia only a tool to harm women and not a form of oppression on its own? Why are you not the first person I've seen talk about fatphobia only in the context of "Women are being treated worse than years ago!" and not even caring enough to focus fat women in the discussion of fatphobia against women?

I fucking hate how popular it's become to blame and complain about "narcissists." The ableism is disgusting. Your parent, boss, whatever the fuck doesn't have a personality disorder. They're just selfish. Stop pretending every horrible, abusive person in the world must be mentally disabled.

if they didnt act like one and weren't one in a easily abuseable power situation then yes maybe id see this argument through but im high so I know you saying some real dumb ass shit.

The fact you literally used abelist language like "dumb" in your reblog without a second thought really says it all. Thanks for sharing with the class

but sometimes they do have a personality disorder.

Me: Ableism is wrong

Ableists: But maybe when I assume a Bad Person™ has a specific stigmatized mental disability—because their medical and mental health history is my business—1/3748394839th of the time I'm right 🥺

'but sometimes they do have a personality disorder.'

who. fucking. cares.

that's not your fucking call. that's never your call.

some people are just assholes. no pathology about it.

some people are just fucking assholes and you have got to accept that shit without thinking they're mentally ill

An illness is something that causes you problems. It's not a mental illness if you're only causing everyone else problems.

You're so fucking uneducated on mental disabilities that you don't even know what an illness is, let alone specifically personality disorders.

I have seven mental disabilities. I work in the social work field. I'm a rehabilitation counselor who works with mentally ill people, and the populations I serve are specifically people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and personality disorders. I think I'm more qualified to know what a mental disability is than you are, you sanist bigot. If you think that a personality disorder isn't disabling and doesn't make a person's life harder, you're more ignorant than a fucking rock.

The irony that you believe people with NPD are horrible, evil people because you believe they must show zero compassion or humanity,

and yet the person here who's showing zero compassion and denying the humanity of others

is YOU.

Autistic, trans, and even antifa, yet you eagerly support the oppression of other mentally disabled people. Your "activism" is pathetic. I'm disgusted and appalled that you dare to call yourself anti-fascist. When fascism is targeted at groups you deem inhuman, you apparently think fascism is a-okay. Fucking despicable.
