this entire interaction makes me crazy but the absolute CONTEMPT emanating from “you became a lyctor”…he was so disappointed in her
Hellooo can you help? I’m reading The Locked Tomb series for the first time (so I skip your tlt posts to avoid spoilers) and I’m about a third through Harrow. I’m having a hard time getting through it because I feel like the world building is passing me by? Does that get better/clearer? Like I have suspicions abt why it’s confusing but now, this far in to it, I’m worried I missed a key piece of info that would have resolved this confusion. I can’t tell if it’s me or it’s supposed to be half-explained/crumbs of suggestions to bigger concepts and I should just vibe and not stress? Any suggestions (spoiler free pls)?
hi there! harrow the ninth is a book that actively gaslights the reader for a good portion of it, so don’t worry! it’s meant to be a bit confusing! things start to slot into place around the 70-80% mark as the puzzle comes together. and it’s very possible that you’ll start figuring some of those bits out before then.
it can be difficult to hold all the info you’re given while also holding on to everything that went down in GtN, but i suggest just trucking on. let it wash over you, absorb what you can, and by the end things get a bit better—by the next book, even more so. i didn’t enjoy HtN much my first time through up until i got close to the end, but the reread value is great!
good luck, and have fun!
this one part from harrow the ninth always made me really upset. so i made a four page comic out of it!
