Miss clicked the first option, meant to click the second one. But even then, I don't really know if the game wanted us to think he did not like Aubrey that way.
Now of course we have the entirety of Basil and Sunny's relationship, the way Omori acts towards Aubrey, and the weird fucking Aubrey's School scene. All these things seem to point towards Sunny not having a crush on Aubrey. Boom bam bomb, case closed. BUT NOOOOO, out of no where on the final day we get that damned memory lane scene where not only do we learn that Sunny had a crush on Aubrey, but we also have BASIL be the one to tell us that. Basil, i.e. the guy who the game points towards having a crush on Sunny. Basil, i.e. the guy who spends enough time with Sunny to potentially pick up him having a crush. And then we have the drawing of the two of them on the swings during the the final , and the line that Aubrey drops about the two of them being close (which is Basil's thing REEE!!!). That all happens in Sunny's head during a moment of clarity for him, pointing to it being true or at least meaningful in some way.
Really, I don't exactly know what the game was trying to say here. It could be trying to point towards Sunny not liking Aubrey/him being confused about his feelings for Aubrey (with all of the weird stuff before the final day), or it could just be saying that yes he had a crush on her and the thing he had with Basil was just them being good pals, or something dumb like that. Honestly though, part of me feels like Omocat just wanted Sunny to be straight maybe? I just don't understand why all that stuff at the end was shoehorned in the way it was unless she just really did not want us to think Sunny was gay or something.
Cannon be damned though. I'll ship whatever as long as the dynamic is interesting.
A Strange Morning Hug
GUYS.
I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING.
SO YKNOW HOW THE WHITESPACE LIGHTBULB IS PROBABLY BASED ON THIS ROOM?
THAT’S THE ROOM WHERE THE VIOLIN IS RIGHT???
YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE THAT ROOM IS???
THE CLOSET.
WHITESPACE IS LITERALLY THE FREAKING CLOSET
They won’t tell you this in school, but based on the specific light bulb used, the photos on the wall, and the friend’s flowers being present, neighbor’s bedroom is likely based on Basil’s bedroom mixed with the treehouse
It’s a little tough to see on first glance, but the light bulb in Basil’s room and Neighbor’s bedroom is noticeably different from the white space/Blackspace/closet lightbulb
OH MY GOD THAT LITERALLY IS AHHH- HOW DID YOU NOTICE THAT :OOO
Title - Basil Got Them.... Thangs on Him (⊙_⊙;)
Thoughts bellow
its silly time are you ready to get silly
Silliness? I'm sorry to say this dear asker, but I'm far to busy being locked the fuck in to be silly (and by locked in I mean reading fan fic and grinding ellipse levels on Risk of Rain 2).
Ok ok ok, I can be the silly from time to time. Gotta be in moderation though. Cant OD on silliness. Its a horrible way to go out.
tell me a hot take on basil
Omg, a real ask from a real person!!! (unless the bots have gotten outa control)
Hmmmm, well I guess the most hot take for Basil that I could give is that I think he has BPD. None of my headcanons are very strict, as I like to play around with different ones for different AUs and stuff like that, but when it comes to analyzing cannon Basil at least, I think it really fits him. I first thought about this while I was playing the game for the first time. I don't tend to come up with head cannons until after I am done playing a game, but this aspect of Basil just made since to me especially once the final day came about.
I'm no professional of course and I don't have it myself, but I have seen people who do have it relate to him. And from what I can see, much of the diagnostic criteria seems to apply to him, and the points that don't immediately apply to him certainly could, we just don't see enough of him to say for sure or not.
The only reason this is a hot take really is because lots of people seem very hesitant to discuss mental health stuff for fictional characters. I think part of this is because many people think that only people who are diagnosed with a certain thing should have an opinion on it when it comes to these types of headcanons, and anyone else chiming in would be disrespectful. I think this is stupid personally. The human brain is an infinitely complicated thing and as a result, everything around trying to categorize and explain it, such as mental illness and neuro-divergence categories, will always be vague and everchanging, so no two people will be able to truly 100% relate to one another even if they have the same diagnosis. So for instance, someone saying that you should not say that Sunny is autistic because some autistic people can't relate to him is silly, because not every person with autism is the same, and it kinda implies that anyone else that does relate to Sunny would be invalid.
I don't know how prevalent this is but I think that there is also the idea that if you headcanon a character to have a certain diagnosis then you can come off as cringe in some way. So what if someone thinks its cringe? None of that is important. Besides everyone is cringe in their own ways. As long as you are happy and not directly hurting others you should do what you please.
