Shoutout to NCIS: Hawaii for existing and making all of the og NCIS knowledge I have from circumstances beyond my control feel so much more worth it
Also Kate moving to FBI is big. The ~tension~ that comes with an FBI liaison and the NCIS team, like this is rife for potential if years of being raised by ppl obsessed with the original NCIS tells me anything.
Can you imagine what will happen when there is a jurisdiction dispute.
“This is my crime scene, Special Agent”
“Actually this is now my crime scene, Special Agent”
It works in either direction! And if this spinoff continues to be true to NCIS trope lore, we’ll very likely get this many times with many role reversals, with all sorts of twists and flairs.
Tenant will get how the games played and that there’s only so many battles to fight whereas Lucy will take things personally. But on some case she cares about, Jane will help Lucy pull one over on Kate. Kate will side with NCIS over FBI colleagues at some point (maybe when the lives of ppl she cares about are at stake 👀). Kate and NCIS will team up against some other agency. They’ll probs recycle a bunch of FBI antagonists from the og NCIS too.
Buckle up buttercups, we are getting the main couple treatment y’all this is gonna be a a plot point they will get mileage from.
Wow NCIS 1x14 really delivered:
- Great Jane storyline and omg Vanessa Lachey is absolutely killing it as the lead, like I didn’t watch too much of the other spin-offs, but in what I’ve seen no one has been as effortlessly commanding as Gibbs until Jane Tenant (who tbh I think is more impressively badass)
- Fully establishing Lucy and Kate as the main workplace romance ship that’s a staple of network procedurals. Lucy canonically avoiding Kate, the awkward banter when they do run into each other. *chefs kiss*
- Tbh may be projecting here, but Tara Anderson plays Kate so subtly layered, like she’s covering some anxiety/imposter syndrome but doing a really convincing job of it
- Kate & Jane friendship taking flight! Jane needs a friend rn, and Kates the only one that is really a professional peer. Like she’s technically in charge of her team (literally in her title) so there’s always a dynamic there
- And Kate needs a friend too! Also liked the minor solidarity moment with Kai, who walked that line of being loyal to Lucy but nice to Kate
- Shoutout to Ernie for continuing to highlight the height difference. “Is the person you’re avoiding six foot tall in heels” had me rolling. Lucy and Ernie’s friendship is always great too, and it was a solid ep for it
list of favorite things as a fanfic author:
- When someone is really freaking mad at me for inducing an emotional response from them
- when readers give me a background of how/when they read my writing
- when readers give me a background of why they shouldn’t have been reading my writing (usually while at work)
- when readers quote my work back to me in comments
- the frickin’ real heroes here, the ones who comment on every chapter of an ongoing multi-chapter fic
- when someone notices something I deliberately left as subtext and cries about it in the comments :3

- When someone notices something I did by accident and tells me how much they loved it and I get to feel like a genius XD
• when a commenter goes wild and types a 1000 words or uses way too many emojis… c:
- the commenters who come back to tell you they reread it
- those commenters who drop detailed comments on a 5000 word+ chapter like, ten minutes after it posts, and leave you astounded and a little terrified
- the commenters who comment on your stuff so often they feel like friends, even if you only know their screenname

LUCY AND KATE | 1x06 – “The Tourist” (NCIS Hawai'i, 2021) 🤍
"I think you're amazing."
I’m imagining some time in s4, Alice runs into someone she knows while with the bat team and Alice makes an introduction
Alice:
*points to Sophie* that’s my twin sisters ex girlfriend and my current roommate. They’re both tops so it never would have worked out.
Sophie: We’re not roommates you literally break into my house every night
Alice: and you don’t change your locks or watch the next episode of our shows without me, sooo
*points to Ryan* this is her new girlfriend. She took all my twins jobs too, but does them better. My gang killed her mom, but I apologized so we’re working through it
*points to Mary* this is my sister, Mary. Originally I wanted to kill her for replacing me in my family, but it turns out we’re both way better sisters than Kate. I killed her mom too, and I’m not sorry, but we’re working through it
Mary: Seriously?!
Alice: Well I’m kind of sorry for how I did it. Fine we’ll unpack it more in our next visit with Harley
*points at Luke* I don’t really know what he does here, but like me, he loves for the drama, and I respect that
Ryan: Wait, how come Sophie was introduced first?
Alice: We’ve been friends the longest :)
Sophie: What?! We’re not friends
Alice: You’re right, best friends :)

I think Mary is a big part in Alice’s desire to change, but I think Ryan is too.
I think Alice now might regret how she killed Catherine Hamilton, because of how it impacted Mary, but I don’t think she regrets doing it.
In her own twisted way though, it was kind of a kindness. Catherine was a bad woman; she, despite her intentions, is responsible for the world giving up on Beth’s rescue. But Mary still got to see her mom die a hero who loves her.
But, Cora Lewis, I think Alice feels guilt about that. Her gang members killed a good woman, and even after that, Ryan said Alice isn’t an enemy of the bat. It’s a subtle moment, but Alice clocked it, and we know from last ep, Alice has a pretty good read on Ryan (and the fact that neither of them like to directly talk about feelings). So Alice knows that’s big
I think Cora Lewis is the death Alice is going to have the most trouble facing
Things Batwoman really said are canon this ep:
- Luke Fox, can and will accept gossip as a form of payment (every time Sophie dished he changed his tune and did whatevs, like that will be one tea plz)
- Batwoman is a bottom.
- Mary and Alice still have a sister bond post Poison Mary
- Batwoman can beat a man’s ass with a pen, but can’t do shit with a belt on a pretty gal
- Alice is no longer a bat team enemy
The possible new cover for the Calamity Jane hardcopy novel? :P
Our fandom is the best fandom. Thank you for sharing the love.
I’m new here, but seeing a lot of commentary about shoes?
As someone of a similar demo to Kate Whistler, some thoughts:
- I live alone. Therefore, I am the sole person responsible for cleaning my floors. This is a direct reason I do not wear shoes in my house. I work a very long hours and taxing job - if I had to clean my floors more frequently, I would very likely just have dirty floors.
- If sand from a nearby beach is on my shoes, there will be sand in my house. I am the person who will have to clean up that sand, or I will live in sand forever. I am guessing Kate Whistler has higher standards than I about living in sand, and even I still do not wear shoes in my home.
- Other people don’t enter my home too regularly, so it is less effort to clean up after their shoes (sand or no), and not worth the effort to dictate a shoe policy to casual guests. Close family/friends/partners remove shoes in my house. Casual hook ups, one night stands, first/second dates, etc, do not.
- At other people’s homes, I follow their shoe policy. If they indicate shoes off, I remove shoes. I will not just walk into someone’s house I do not know and remove my shoes, unless I see others doing so. Until seeing it is the policy, it feels like taking your shoes off on an airplane to take shoes off in someones home.
I guess this blog is back. I think this is the one I use for AO3 stuff.
Anyway if you followed for LoT fic, I finally wrote an ending after 3 years.
Got a bunch of stuff in the works right now across a couple fandoms, a mix of angst / crack / fluff
Started a new short one that I’ll probs finish up this weekend or some night I can’t sleep this week.
the sexual tension between me and the new wip idea that’s been sitting in the back of my head and distracting me the whole day
